CORNWALL. To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish
of Perranarworthal in the County of Cornwall and to the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Kea in the County aforesaid and to each and
every of them
Upon complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of Perranarworthal aforesaid unto Us, whose
Names are hereunto set, and Seals affixed, being two of His Majesty’s Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County and one of us of the
Quorum, That David MARTIN, Temperance his wife, David aged about five
years and half and James aged about two years and half their children
have come to inhabit in the said Parish of
Perranarworthal not having gained a legal Settlement there; and
that the said David MARTIN, Temperance his wife and David and James
their children are now actually chargeable to the said Parish
of Perranarworthal We the said Justices upon due proof thereof,
as well upon the examination of the said David MARTIN upon
Oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the premises, do
adjudge the same to be true: and we do likewise adjudge that the lawful
Settlement of the said David MARTIN, Temperance his wife and David and
James their children is in the said Parish of
Kea in the said County We do therefore require you the
said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Perranarworthal or some or one of you to convey the said
David MARTIN, Temperance his wife and David and James their children
from and out of your said Parish of Perranarworthal
to the said Parish of Kea and them to deliver
to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, there, or to some or one of
them, together with this our Order, or a true copy thereof, at the same time
shewing to them the Original; and We do also hereby require you the said
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Kea to receive and provide for them as
inhabitants of your said Parish
GIVEN under our Hands and Seals, the thirtieth day of
September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
thirty.

DEVON, to wit. To the Keeper of the House of Correction for the said County, and
also to all Constables and other Officers of the Peace whom it may concern, to
receive and convey: and to the Churchwardens or Overseers of the Poor of Perran
in the County of Cornwall to receive and obey.
Whereas Ann REED on the 21st Day of Oct last was apprehended in the Parish of
St
Thos. the Apostle wandering and begging And whereas the said Ann hath been by
me
one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County examined,
adjudged, and convicted to be a Rogue and Vagabond; and hath, in Consequence of
such Conviction, been committed to and confined in the House of Correction, in
and for the said County, for the Space of seven Days, pursuant to the Statute in
that Case lately made. And whereas upon Examination of the said Ann taken before
me upon Oath (which Examination is hereunto annexed) it doth appear that the
last legal Settlement of the said Ann is in the Parish of
Perran
These are therefore to require you, the said Constable, to convey the said
Ann
to the Parish of Lanceston in the County of Cornwall that being the first Parish
in the next Precinct through which she ought to pass in the direct Way to the
said Parish of Perran to which she is to be sent and deliver
her to the said
Constable or other Officer of such Parish in the next Precinct together with
this Pass, and the Duplicate of the Examination of the said Ann taking his
Receipt for the same.
And the said Ann is to be thence conveyed on in like Manner to the said Parish
of Perran there to be delivered to some Church Warden, Chapel Warden, or
Overseer of the Poor, to be there provided for according to Law. And you the
said Church Wardens, Chapel Wardens, and Overseers of the Poor, are hereby
required to receive the said Person and provide for her as aforesaid.
Given under my Hand and Seal this fifth Day of Nov in the Year of our Lord 1803.

Devon to wit. The Examination of Ann REED
taken before me one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said
County, this fifth Day of Nov 1803
Who on her Oath saith, that she is the Widow of George REED an Irishman
that her settlement before marriage with the s. George REED was in the parish of
Perran in the County of Cornwall where she was Born as she hath been informed
her Father Samuel MITCHELL legally settled ----- She further saith she hath a
child with her aged seventeen days Born a Bastard in the parish of Bradnish in
the County of Devon aforesd.

Michael Nowell USTICKE and John SHEEPSHANKS Clerks whose Names are
hereunto set, and seals affixed, two of Her Majesty’s Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County, and one of us of the Quorum. That
Ruth TRELEGGAN Singlewoman hath come to
inhabit in the said Parish of Gwennap not
having gained a legal Settlement there; and that the said Ruth TRELEGGAN
is now actually chargeable to the said Parish of
Gwennap – We the said Justices upon due proof thereof, as well
upon the examination of the said Ruth TRELEGGAN upon Oath, as
otherwise, upon due consideration had of the premises, do adjudge the same to be
true: and we do likewise adjudge that the lawful settlement of the said
Ruth TRELEGGAN is in the said Parish of
Perranarworthal in the said County – We do therefore
require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Gwennap or some or one of you to convey the
said Ruth TRELEGGAN from and out of your said Parish
of Gwennap to the said Parish of
Perranarworthal and her to deliver to the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, there, or to some or one of them,
together with this our Order, or a true copy thereof, at the
same time showing to them the original; and We do also hereby require you the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Perranarworthal to receive and provide for her
according to Law.

December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty
seven.

as an inhabitant of your said Parish.
