The Will of John Colman, dated 3 October 1742In the Name of God Amen I John Colman Belonging to his Majesties Ship the Bedford Mariner being in bodily health and of sound Disposition mind and memory, Considering the perils and dangers of the sea and other uncertaintyes of this transitory life Do for avoiding Contreversies after my Decease make Publick and declare this my last Will and Testament in the manner following That is to say First I recommend my soul to God that gave it me and my Body I commit to the Earth of sea as it shall please God; and as for and concerning all my worldly Estate I Give and Bequeath and dispose thereof as followeth; That is to say all such Pay and Wages Sum and Sums of money as now is or shall be any wise Due, oweing or payable unto me for mine or any other service on Board the said together with all other sums that shall be any way due or Belonging unto me at the time of my decease I do Give devise and Bequeath the sum unto my well beloved Father John Colman and I do hereby Nominate and appoint the same John Colman Executor of this my Last Will and Testament Hereby revoking all other Wills and Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and I ordain and Gratefy present to stand and as before and my only last Will and Testament in Witness to these my said Will I have sett my Hand the third day of October Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and forty two and in the sixteenth year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the Second
