Will of Hugh Leverton, dated 24 July 1654
 

In the name of God Amen I Hugh LEVERTON of the parish of Padstowe within the Countie of Cornewall Marchant being fitte in bodye and perfect in mind and memory Thanks be given to Almightie God doe ordaine and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following First I bequeathe my soule into the hands of Allmightie God my Creatore and Redeemer assureing my selfe that by the Merritts of Jesus Christ my sinns are pardoned and my soule saved and my Body to christian buriall Item I doe give and bequeathe one chest one cubbord one Bedstead the sorard Timber three hundred weight of pitch all my Mault one Bason and Ewre eight pounds due to mee upon Accounet from my Mother in lawe Uzsula SMYTHE And likewise the Tearme Title and Interest of one house in the broade Streete wth the Gardens more twentie pounds in money the one moiety three weekes after my decease the other Moietie twelve months after to be paied by my Executor Item I doe give and bequeathe to my brother John LEVERTONs children the sume of fiftie pounds to be ordered and disposed of by the Judgement and discretion of George Williams and Thomas LEVERTON my brothers where and to whome they shall see most cause And to that end my will is that my Executor pay the same within twelve monthes after my decease to them that there may be a disposall thereof accordingly Item I doe give and bequeathe unto Gershom LEVERTON and Mary LEVERTON sonne and Daughter to Nicholas LEVERTON Rectr of St.Tudy the summe of thirtye pounds to be disposed of by my aforesaid Brothers Item I doe give and bequeathe unto my brother Thomas LEVERTONs children the summe of tenne pounds Item I doe give and bequeathe unto my cozen Elizabeth HARRISE of St.Issy the sume of fiftie shillings Item I doe give and bequeathe unto Anne LEVERTON my uncle William LEVERTONs widdowe tenne shillings Item I doe give and bequeathe unto Margaret LEVERTON of Crantocke tenne shillings Item I doe give and bequeathe unto Thamisin ROWE tenne shillings Item I doe give and bequeathe unto my brother Alexander LEVERTON my best suite and cloake Item I doe give more to my brother John LEVERTONs children all the rest of my cloathes lining and wolling Item I doe give to my brother Thomas LEVERTON mye spurrs with one sea craft and one duchrudge Item I doe give to my cozen John MARRATT fower pounds & my best bootes Item I do give to his sister wch. liveth in the house wthhim twentie shillings Item all the Rest of my goods and chattles not given and bequeathed I doe give and bequeathe unto my cozen Martin
LEVERTON whome I doe make and ordaine my full and sole Executor And my Will is that all those legacies here given and bequeathed shalbe paied within one yeare after my decease And doe desire my brother George WILLIAMS and Thomas LEVERTON be my Overseers of this my last Will and Testament and to see the same performed accordingly In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the twentie fowerth of Julie 1654 Hugh LEVERTON. This will was provd att London the nynth daie of June in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie and five before the Judges for probate of wills and granting Administracons lawfully authorized by the Oathe of Martyn LEVERTON sole Extor. named in the said Will to whomn the Administracon is Comitted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Debts of the said deceased hee being first sworne by Comission truly to administor the same.
