THE Order of HUMPHREY WILLYAMS and RICHARD GULLY BENNET Esquires two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County within the Hundred of Pyder in the said County, made the third day of October in the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty six concerning a Male Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of Padstow aforesaid, of the Body of MARIA WILLIAMS Single Woman.
 
Whereas it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Padstow as upon the Oath of the said MARIA WILLIAMS that she the said MARIA WILLIAMS on the thirteenth day of November 1824 was delivered of a Male Bastard Child, at Padstow Town in the parish of Padstow in the said County, and that the said Bastard Child is now chargeable to the said Padstow (N.B. should be Parish) of Padstow and likely so to continue; and further that WILLIAM BRENTON of Padstow in the said County Cordwainer did beget the said Bastard Child on the Body of her the said MARIA WILLIAMS And whereas it appears upon the Oath of RICHARD NANCE Constable of the said parish of Padstow that he hath duly summoned him the said WILLIAM BRENTON to appear before us and to answer the said Complaint and to shew cause why an order of filiation should not be made upon him for the maintenance of the said Bastard Child And whereas the said WILLIAM BRENTON hath neglected to appear accordingly We therefore, upon examination of the cause and circumstance of the premises, as well upon the oath of the said MARIA WILLIAMS as otherwise, do hereby adjudge him the said WILLIAM BRENTON to be the reputed father of the said Bastard Child.
 
And thereupon we do order, as well for the better relief of the said parish of Padstow as for the sustentation and relief of the said bastard child, that the said WILLIAM BRENTON shall and do forthwith, upon notice of this our order, pay or cause to be paid to the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said parish of Padstow or to some or one of them, the Sum of 2GBP 14..2 for and towards the lying in of the said MARIA WILLIAMS and the maintenance of the said Bastard Child, to the time of making this our Order.
 
And we do also hereby further order, that the said WILLIAM BRENTON shall likewise pay or cause to be paid, to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Padstow for the time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of One Shilling & Eight pence weekly and every week from this present time, for and towards the Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said parish of Padstow.
 
And we do further order, that the said MARIA WILLIAMS shall also pay or cause to be paid, to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Padstow for the time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Ten pence weekly and every week, so long as the said Bastard shall be chargeable to the said (blank) of (blank) in case she shall not nurse and take care of the said Child herself.
