THE Order of HUMPHRY WILLYAMS and RICHARD GULLY BENNET Esquires two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County, one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the limits of the Parish Church within the Parish of Padstow in the said County, made the Eighth Day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty nine concerning a male Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of Padstow aforesaid, of the body of MARIA WILLIAMS Single Woman.
 
WHEREAS it hath been duly made to appear unto us the said Justices, as well upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Padstow as upon the Oath of the said MARIA WILLIAMS that she the said MARIA WILLIAMS on the Eighteenth day of October last past was delivered of a male Bastard Child, at Padstow in the said County and that the said Bastard Child is now chargeable to the said Parish of Padstow and likely so to continue; and further that JAMES WENDRON of the said parish Ship Carpenter, did beget the said Bastard Child, on the body of her the said MARIA WILLIAMS
 
AND WHEREAS the said JAMES WENDRON has appeared before us but has not shewn any sufficient cause why he the said JAMES WENDRON shall not be the reputed Father of the said Bastard Child,
 
We, therefore, upon examination of the cause and circumstances of the premises, as well upon the Oath of the said MARIA WILLIAMS as otherwise, do hereby adjudge him the said JAMES WENDRON to be the reputed Father of the said Bastard Child. And thereupon we do order, as well for the better relief of the said Parish of Padstow as for the sustentation and relief of the said Bastard Child, that the said JAMES WENDRON shall and do forthwith, upon notice of this our Order, pay or cause to be paid, to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Padstow or to some or one of them, the Sum of (not specified) for and towards the reasonable charges and expenses incident to the said Birth, and for and towards the maintenance of the said Bastard Child, to the time of making this our Order; And whereas it further appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Oath of JOHN KENDALL as otherwise, that the reasonable Costs of this our Order of Filiation, do amount together to the Sum of Eleven Shillings and two pence We, the said Justices, do thereupon further order that the said JAMES WENDRON shall and do forthwith likewise pay the said last-mentioned Sum of Eleven Shillings and two pence for the indemnifying the said Parish of Padstow against the said last mentioned Sum of Eleven Shillings and two pence. And we do also hereby further order, that the said JAMES WENDRON shall likewise pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, of the said parish of Padstow for the time being, or to one or some of them, the Sum of One Shilling and Eight Pence weekly and every week from this present time, for and towards the keeping, sustentation, and maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long a time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said parish of Padstow And we do further order that the said MARIA WILLIAMS shall also pay or cause to be paid, to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, of the said Parish of Padstow for the time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Ten pence weekly and every week, so long as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Padstow in case she shall not nurse and take care of the said Child herself. GIVEN under our Hands and Seals the Day and Year first above written.
