Cornub:ss The Order of EDMOND PRIDEAUX and JOHN PETER
Esqrs. two of His Majesties Justices of the Peace for
the said County, made for the Relief of the Parish of
Padstow in the County aforesaid, for the keeping of a
Male Bastard Child, Begotten by JAMES BURT of St. Minver
on the Body of CHARITY ROUNSEVALL of the Parish of
Padstow Singlewoman
UPON Examination of the said CHARITY ROUNSEVALL duly
taken before us, or one of us, We do find that the said
JAMES BURT is Charged to have had divers times Bodily
and Carnal Knowledge of her, and to be the reputed
Father of the said Child; and therefore we do adjudge
him to be the reputed Father of the said Child.
We do farther Order as followed, That the said CHARITY
ROUNSEVALL shall keep the said Child until it shall come
to Seven Years of Age.
Secondly, That the said JAMES BURT upon Notice of this
our Order, shall from the Birth of the said Child, pay
unto the hands of some, or one of the Overseers of the
Poor of the said parish of Padstow (for the Time being)
after the rate of Twelve Pence every Week to be paid
Monthly every Year, towards the Relief of the said Child
until he come to Seven Years of Age, if it shall so long
happen to live.
Thirdly, That after the said Child shall come to Seven
Years of Age as aforesaid, that the said JAMES BURT
shall pay to the hands of the Overseers of the poor of
the said Parish the Sum of Five pounds towards putting
out the same Child Apprentice, &tc.
Fourthly, That the said JAMES BURT shall presently give
good Security to some or one of the Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish, to perform this our Order.
Given under our Hands and Seals this Tenth day of
January Anno Domini 1718.
