Know all men by these presents that we WILLIAM
FLAMANK of the parish of Saint Columb major in the
County of Cornwall Labourer and JAMES FLAMANK of the
same parish Joiner are held and firmly bound unto PETER
VIVIAN of the parish of Padstow in the County of
Cornwall Yeoman and WILLIAM TREMAIN of the same place
Mercer Overseers of the poor of the parish of Padstow in
the County of Cornwall and CHARLES PETER and WILLIAM
KENDALL Churchwardens of the said Parish of Padstow (in
trust for the parishioners of the said parish) in the
sum of Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great
Britain to be paid to the said PETER VIVIAN WILLIAM
TREMAIN CHARLES PETER & WILLIAM KENDALL or their certain
Attorney their Executors Administrators or Assigns. To
which payment well and truly to be made, we bind
ourselves and each of us jointly and severally and our
and each and every of our heirs Executors and
Administrators firmly by these presents Sealed with our
Seals and dated the twenty fourth day of September in
the fifty second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord
George the third of Great Britain and Ireland King
defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twelve.
The Condition of this Obligation is such that Whereas
ANN EDYVEAN of the parish of Padstow aforesaid single
woman hath in and by her voluntary examination taken in
writing and upon Oath before THOMAS RAWLINGS Esquire one
of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the
said County of Cornwall declared that she is with child
and that the said child is likely to be born a bastard
and to be chargeable to the said parish of Padstow and
that the above bounden JAMES FLAMANK is the father of
the said Child - If therefore the said WILLIAM FLAMANK
and JAMES FLAMANK or either of them their or either of
their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall
from time to time and at all times hereafter for and
during and unto the full time and term of eight years if
the said Child shall be a girl or seven years if the
said Child shall be a boy (provided the said child shall
be born alive and shall so long live) pay or cause to be
paid unto the said PETER VIVIAN WILLIAM TREMAIN CHARLES
PETER & WILLIAM KENDALL and their successors for the
time being the weekly sum of one shilling and four pence
of lawful money of Great Britain for and toward the
maintenance of the said Bastard Child and the sum of Two
pounds for and towards the charges and expenses of the
lying in and delivery of the said ANN EDYVEAN of the
said Child then this present Obligation to be void
otherwise of force.
