The Order of HUMPHRY WILLYAMS and RICHARD GULLY BENNET Esquires two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County, one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the limits of the Parish Church within the Parish of Saint Columb Major in the said County, made the Ninth Day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred and thirty two concerning a male Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of Padstow aforesaid, of the body of PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER Single Woman.
 
WHEREAS it hath been duly made to appear unto us the said Justices, as well upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Padstow as upon the Oath of the said PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER that she the said PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER on the thirtieth Day of August last past was delivered of a male Bastard Child, at Padstow in the Parish of Padstow in the said County and that the said Bastard Child is now chargeable to the said Parish of Padstow and likely so to continue: and further that GREGORY CHAPMAN of the Parish of Padstow in the said County, Yeoman did beget the said Bastard Child, on the body of her the said PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER AND WHEREAS the said GREGORY CHAPMAN has appeared before us, in pursuance of our Summons for that purpose, but has not shewn any sufficient cause why he the said GREGORY CHAPMAN shall not be the reputed Father of the said Bastard Child,
 
We, therefore, upon examination of the cause and circumstances of the premises, as well upon the Oath of the said PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER as otherwise, do hereby adjudge him the said GREGORY CHAPMAN to be the reputed Father of the said Bastard Child.
 
And whereas it further appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Oath of JOHN PEARCE as otherwise, that the reasonable Costs of this our Order of Filiation, do amount together to the Sum of Seventeen Shillings We, the said Justices, do thereupon further order that the said GREGORY CHAPMAN shall and do forthwith likewise pay the last-mentioned sum of Seventeen Shillings for the indemnifying the said Parish of Padstow against the last-mentioned Sum of Seventeen Shillings And we do also hereby further order, that the said GREGORY CHAPMAN shall likewise pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, of the said Parish of Padstow for the time being, or to one or some of them, the Sum of One shilling and Eight pence weekly and every week from this present time, for and towards the keeping, sustentation, and maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long a time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Padstow And we do further order that the said PEGGY HAWKEN BREWER shall also pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, of the said Parish of Padstow for the time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Ten pence weekly and every week, so long as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Padstow in case she shall not nurse and take care of the said Child herself. GIVEN under our Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first above written.
