At the Generall Quarter Sessions of the Peace of our Lord the King held at Bodmin in & for the said County the third day of October in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith & so forth and in the year of our Lord 1769 before SIR JOHN MOLESWORTH Bart FRANCIS RODD Esqr HENRY HAWKINS TREMAYNE Clerk & others their Companions Justices of our said Lord the King assigned to keep the Peace, and also to hear and determine divers Felonies Trespasses & other Misdeamenors committed in the said County
 
Upon the appeal of JOHN HAWKE the Younger of the parish of Padstow in the said County from & agt an Order under the Hands & Seals of JOHN WILLYAMS Esqr. & ROBERT BATEMAN Clerk Doctr in Physick, two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace of and for the said County (one whereof is of the Quorum) bearing Date the twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord 1769 requiring the said JOHN HAWKE the Younger to pay or cause to be paid unto the Church Wardens & Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Padstow the sum of Two pounds & four shillings for & towards the Lying in Charges of ELIZABETH KENDALL singlewoman, & the Maintainance of a male bastard Child (of which she had then lately been delivered) to the time of making the sd order & of which bastard child the said JOHN HAWKE the younger had been charged with being the father and further Ordering the said JOHN HAWKE the younger to pay the Sum of one shilling weekly for & towards the Keeping Sustentation & Maintainance of the said child for & during so long a time as the sd child shall continue & be a Charge or Burthen or likely so to be to the said parish of Padstow, and Upon hearing the attorneys & advocates & what wd be alleged & proved on either side It is Ordered that the sd Order be & the same is hereby confirmed, And it is further Ordered that the sd JOHN HAWKE the Younger do on notice of this Order pay into the hands of the Church Wardens & Overseers of the poor of the sd parish of Padstow, some or one of them, the sum of One pound five shillings & eight pence as & for their Costs of Defending the sd appeal, And it appearing unto this Court, that the said JOHN HAWKE the Younger hath paid to the Church Wardens & Overseers of the sd parish of Padstow the several sums beforementioned & directed by him to be paid, It is Ordered that the said JOHN HAWKE the Younger be discharged out of Custody, he having procured a sufficient security for abiding by and performing the said order.
