… jointly and severally firmly by these presents Sealed
with our seals Dated the twenty seventh day of March in
the fourth year of the reign of King George the third
and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and sixty four 1764.
Whereas Mary Glanvill of the parish of North Petherwyn
in the said County single woman was lately delivered of
a female Bastard Child within the said parish And
whereas the said Mary Glanvill has declared upon oath
before John Arscott Esq: one of his Majesty’s Justices
of the peace that Henry Mayse Junr: of the said parish
of Werington Husbandman is the father thereof And
Whereas the said Henry Mayse is under age and incapable
of giving any surity to the said parish of North
Petherwyn for the maintenance thereof Now therefore the
Condition of the above written obligation is such that
if the above bounden Richard Yeolden and Edward Clemence?
or their Successors or any other parishioners of the
said parish of Werington shall and do from the day of
the date hereof yearly and every year until the said
Child shall be fitt and liable to be bound out an
apprentice well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto
the said Richard Hawke? and Ambrose Box? or one of them
or their successors at the rate of eight pence a week
for and towards the maintenance and bringing up of the
said Child then this obligation is to be void and of
none effect otherwise to remain and be in full force.
