THIS IS THE LAST WILL of me WILLIAM HAWKEN of the parish of Michaelstow in the County of Cornwall Carpenter made this sixth day of September 1875 I revoke all previous testamentary instruments Whereas I have a power of appointment under and by virtue of a certain Indenture of Settlement now in the hands of the trustees thereof John Nichols and John Taylor Hoskin both of the said parish Yeomen over certain monies now vested in them as such trustees in exercise of such power I therefore direct and appoint and also bequeath to be paid thereout after the decease of my present wife the following sums of money that is to say To my relatives Prudence Brown Hawkin Mary Jane Hawkin Joanna Hawken Rebecca Coleman the sum of five pounds each To my relative Edward Chapman the sum of ten pounds To my son Thomas Hawken provided he can be found the sum of twenty pounds If not found within six months after the said sum shall have become payable to him I will and direct that the same fall into and become part of my residuary estate hereinafter bequeathed To my son William Henry Hawken for his life the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be applied and disposed of towards his support and maintenance in such manner as the said John Nichols and John Taylor Hoskin and the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor shall think proper To my son Nicholas John Hawken for his life the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be applied and disposed of towards his support and maintenance in like manner as the aforesaid sum of two hundred and fifty pounds given to my son William Henry Hawken and in the case either of my said sons William Henry and Nicholas John shall die before the other of them the survivor of them shall take the share of him so dying during his life to be applied towards his support and maintenance as the said John Nichols and John Taylor Hoskin shall think proper And from and after the decease of both of my last named sons I will and direct give and bequeath all monies which may then be vested in the said trustees under the said settlement and also all and every part of the monies then remaining in their hands for the benefit and maintenance of such sons to them the said John Nichols and John Taylor Hoskin their executors administrators and assigns absolutely to be equally divided between them my house and household furniture at Leathern-bottle I give and bequeath to my said wife during her life and after her decease I give the same respectively and all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects of what nature or kind soever to the said John Nichols and John Taylor Hoskin their executors administrators and assigns absolutely in equal shares and proportions I charge them with the payment of my debts and appoint them joint EXECUTORS of this my will which so far as it is made in their favour I do so on account of the trouble they have promised to take in looking after and managing for my said sons William Henry and Nicholas John who are incapable of managing for themselves – WILLIAM HAWKEN – Signed by the said William Hawken as his last will in the presence of us being present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses – W DINHAM KING – RICHd H BURT
