(Covering 1833 - 1867)
 

Frederico Webber, Clerk, Master of Arts Rector.; Instituted May 1842 vice
Leveson Gower deceased. The Said Fred: Webber, being also incumbant of Merther to which he was instituted in 1833.
 
1841 Edward, the (1st?) Earl of Falmouth patron of the living, died in December of this year, and was buried in January 1842. the said Fred Webber incumbent of Merther performing the ceremony.
 
1844. Sunday and week day School House erected by Anne Frances, Countess of Falmouth, widow of the 1st Earl of Falmouth, who also erected and endowed a School in Merther.
 
1852 George Henry, 2nd Earl of Falmouth, only child of the 1st Earl, and Anne Frances, his wife, died and was buried in the same vault – by Fred: Webber, Rector of ye Parish. A memorial window was placed by his Mother in the Church and a monument in the South Transept.
 
1852 Fred: Webber – Clerk aforesaid, resigned the Perpetual Curacy of Merther, and came to reside in the Rectory House of this Parish, which he partly rebuilt, and restored at his own expence, with the exception of dilapidation charges, paid by Evelyn, Viscount Falmouth.
 
1859. The Tower of the Church, being in a dangerous state, was taken down to be rebuilt, at the expence of Viscount Falmouth, nephew of the 1st Earl, and cousin of the 2nd Earl.
 
1860 The new Tower in progress
 
1861 The Tower completed, with pointed roof, in December of this year. Mr Street Architect, Messrs Clemens, Builders. It was determined in Vestry, to take down and rebuild the whole Church. Evelyn, Lord Viscount Falmouth having taken on himself the entire cost.
 
1865 The Church completed
The Church opened for devine Service on Christmas Eve (Sunday of this year).
The Reverend the Rector preached in the morning.;
The Honble and Revd The Rector of Lamorran preached in the afternoon.
 
The altar made by Clarke of Bath, the Lectern, kneeling stools and pulpit desk – and books presented by the Rector. Fred: Webber M.A.
 
1864 Anne Frances Countess of Falmouth buried in May of this year. Fred Webber Rector

1867 Wall of Churchyard rebuilt by Lord Falmouth
 
1864 Anne Frances, Countess of Falmouth, bequeathed to the aged and deserving poor of this Parish, a legacy of £16. 13s 4(p) yearly to be distributed by the Rector on the day of her death, May 1 of this year. She also bequested a like sum to each of the Parishes of Lamorran and Merther.
 
Anne Frances, Countess of Falmouth aforesaid, bequeathed to the Rector of this Parish, the sum of £20.01 in Trust for the support of the School, belonging to Lord Viscount Falmouth, by way of subscription, and for reward of deserving scholars – the above sums are vested in the Charity Commissioners

1842. May. Frederick Webber: BA Clerk Instituted to this living. Vice Leveson Gower deceased – the above F.W being also incumbent of Merther to which he was instituted in 1833.
 
1844. Sunday and weekday school and house built by the Revd. F Webber, at the sole charge of Anne Frances, Countess of Falmouth who erected and endowed a similar school in Merther.
 
1841 Edward, 1 Earl of Falmouth died, Dec and was buried January 1842 by Fred: Webber
 
1852 George Henry 2 Earl of Falmouth died and was buried here by Fred: Webber
 
1853 Fred: Webber Clerk resigned the Perpetual Curacy of Merther, and came in September 29 to reside in the Rectory which he repaired and rebuilt.
 
1859 The tower of the Church which was in a dangerous state was begun to be pulled down – at the expense of Evelyn Viscount Falmouth. ?---- the late Earl – and the new Tower in ?---
 
1860 The new Tower in progress
 
1861 December. The Tower completed with pointed roof
It was decided in Vestry that the fabric of the church and chancel should be taken down and rebuilt – Evelyn Viscount Falmouth having nobly guaranteed the Parishoners and Rector formerly of the whole expense.
 
1865 December The church restored and completed in a noble and magnificent manner by Evelyn Viscount Falmouth, with the exception of the East Chancel window which is to be of painted glass – and is shortly to be ?------
 
On the 24th December the Church was opened for devine service. The Reverend Frederic Webber, M.A., Rector preached the morning sermon – and the Honble and Revd. John Townshere ?---- brother of Viscount Falmouth the evening.
 
The alter of carved oak and the kneeling stools and pulpit desk presented by Rector. Also the books for devine service.
 
1864. Anne Frances Countess of Falmouth, relick of the 1st Earl was buried in May of this year, beside her husband and son the 2nd Earl by Fred Webber, M.A. Rector.

The contents of the two pages sewed together, bring memoranda of things occurring in this Parish, during my Incumbency, have been copied by me from notes made by myself in another page; and written in red ink.

Events connected with the Parish of St Michael Penkevil during my Incumbency.

Jan 1880. The Rev. Arthur Roger Tomlinson M.A. of Christ Church Oxford was instituted and came into residence April 1st 1880.
 
Oct 1886. The Hon Evelyn Thomas Boscowen, Col. Of the Coldstream Guards was married to the Hon. Kathleen Douglas Tennant, elder daughter of Lord Pembyn in London.
 
Viscount Falmouth gave to the Church two desks of oak in front of the ?--- seats in the transepts.
He also gave curtains for the doors.
 
June 20th 1887
This being the day of the jubilee of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria a Thanksgiving service was held in the Church and afterward a dinner provided by Lord Falmouth to the men of the 3 parishes of St Michael Penkevil, Lammoran and Merther presided over by Mr Richie of St Michael Penkevil supported by Rev R Blackmore, Vicar of Merthur ?-------.
 
Tea was served in the Deer Park to all the inhabitants of the 3 parishes ?----- the Glebe at Lammoran and also ?-----.
 
Oct 1887 The Hon & Rev John ?-- Boscawen, Rector of Lamorran died in London.
 
Oct 1889. The Right Hon Evelyn, Viscount Falmouth died in London.
 
Dec 2nd The Rev A R T---- Rector of St Michael Penkevil and Chaplain to Viscountess Falmouth was appointed Rector of Lamorran.
 
1891. New School opened
 
1892 Viscountess Falmouth ?----- died
 
1893 The Rev A R T---- Lamorran and Rev R Blackman? Were appointed.
