The Will of Thomas Vyan dated 27 March 1686

In the of God Amen, I Thomas Vian of the pish of St Mewan
in the County of Cornwall, being sick and weake in body yet blessed
be God pfect in memory do make this my last will and Testament
the 27th day of March 1686 hereby revoking all former wills
whatsoever
In primus I bequeath my soul unto Almighty God that gave it me
and my body unto Christian buriall, And for the setlying of those
sublunary blessings which that God of his omnipotent providense
and infinite goodness hath bestowed upon me I give & bequeath in
manner following, that is to say Inprimus I give & bequeath
unto the poor of this pish of St Mewan the sum of tenn shillings
Item I give unto my brother William Vian my bible & two Chairs
and whereas my said brother Will Vian is to pay be fifty pounds of
good money, I do give thirty pounds of it unto my brother Will
Vian
and the other twenty unto my exrr hereafter named
Item whereas I stand bound unto Rich Davy of St Austell for ten
pounds for my brother John Vian, I do hereby oblige my exr
to free & discharge my bro John Vian from the said debt. Item
I give unto my bro John Vians daughter Elizabeth twenty shillings
I give unto my bro Sampsons daughter Elizabeth twenty shill
ings. Item I give unto Mary Thomas the wife of Will Thomas of St
Austell five shillings. Item I give unto Pitternell Vian five
shillings. Item I give unto Elizabeth the daughter of Erasmus Vian
two shillings. Item unto Jane the daughter of Roger Vian Junior two
shillings. Item I give unto Emblem the daughter of Stephen Nankivill
two shillings. I give unto Margaret the daughter of John Mudon
of St Tue one shilling. Item I give unto Gidion the son of Walter Barbe
ry on shilling, Item I give unto my Godson the son of Will: John
one shilling. All the rest of my goods quick stufe & all whatsoever
I have not given, I do give & bequeath unto Sampson Vian my bro
ther, and I do hereby ordain constitute & appoint these Sampson Vian
my brother to be my sole executor desiring him to fee this my
last will & Testament to be performed in every particular according
to my true intent & meaning herein & my will & pleasure is that the
Legisies herein given be payed within a half year after my desease
In witness hereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the year
first above written
