Settlement Paper for Thomas Keam & Family, dated 6 January 1759

Cornwall. We The Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of St Mewan in the said County of Cornwall, do hereby Certifye own and Acknowledge that Thomas Keam Mason, Mary his Wife Elizabeth his Daughter about seven years of age Mary his Daughter aged about five years Ann his Daughter aged about two years of age, are Inhabitants Legally Settled in our parish aforesaid In Witness whereof we have hereunto Set our hands and seals the sixth Day of January in the year of our Lord 1759

We John Fortescue and Joshua Howell two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Cornwall aforesaid do allow of the above written Certificate. And we do also Certify that Walter Hicks one of the Witnesses who attested the same hath this Day made Oath Before us the said Justices that he the said Walter Hicks did See the Churchwardens and Overseers of the said parish, whose Names and Seals are thereunto Subscribed and Sett Severally Sign and Seal the same and that the Names of Walter Hicks and William Udye who are the witnesses attesting the said Certificate are Respectively of there [sic] own proper hand writing: Given under our hands this Seventh day of January In the year of our Lord 1759
