The Will of John Rowly,  dated 15 December 1748

In the Name of God Amen I John Rowly of the Parish of Menheniot and County of Cornwall yeoman Being weake in Body But of Sound and perfect mind and memory Blessed be God for it doe therefore make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and form as following (that is to say)
And First I Recommend my Soul to the hands of almighty God hoping Through the merits of my saviour Jesus Christ to be partaker of a Blessed and Happy Ressurection and my Body to Christian Buriall
Item I give unto my Sister Elizabeth Reed the Sum of five shillings and to each and every one of her present children the sum of three pounds
Item I give unto Rowly the Child of Nicholas Odger three pounds
Item I give unto William Bumkum my kinsman the sum of five pounds and also two Cotes one wast cote two pairs of Briches it being my common wearing apparel
Item I give unto my ant Ann Bumkum the sum of one pound
Item I give unto my wife Elizabeth the Inheritance of my malt house with the rents and proffitts to her and her heirs for ever.
Item all the rest of Goods and Chattels I give unto my wife and doe make her the whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and testament But the intent of this my will and meaning farther is that if my Brother in Law Richard Reed shall under any pretence whatsoever (that he has or may have) give this my above named Executrix any other Troble then the making up of a fare and just amount then I revoke the above said Ligices given to my sister Elizabeth Reed and her Children and to be and Remain for the only use and Bennifit of this my Executrix as Witness my hand and seal this 15 Day of December 1748

The before written Will of the before named John Rowly is a true Copy Examined and Compared with the Original this 28th Janry 1748 by us

The before written Will of the beforenamed John Rowly deced was proved in common forme the 27th Janry 1748 Before the Reverend Mr William Waddon Clerk Master of Arts Official etc and admoin of the Goods etc of the Said Deced and of all things howsoever Concerning the Said Will was Granted to the Executrix therein named (being first Sworne etc (Saveing etc)
