The Will of John Hony,  Proved 26th June 1747

In the name of God Amen, I John Hony of Trenant in the Parish of Minhinniott and County of Cornwall Gent. Being of a Sound and Perfect Mind and memory Do make Constitute Ordain and Appoint this to be my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following; First of all I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God - in hopes of a joyfull Resurrection and my Body to Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Trustees hereafter named I Give unto my Son in Law Mr John Harris one Guinea to buy a Mourning Ring and I Give unto my Daughter Diana Harris Twenty-Pounds to be paid unto her within Three Months after my Decease, and to my Grand Daughters Elizabeth Harris and Grace Harris Twenty Pounds apiece to be paid to each of them when they shall severally attain the age of sixteen years but if either of them shall happen to Dye before she or they attain that age then the Legacy or Legacys hereby Given to either or both so dieing I do hereby Give unto Child or Children as the said Diana Harris shall hereafter have to be equally divided between them share and share alike at the age of Sixteen years. I Give unto my Son in Law Mr Peter Rowe One Guinea to buy a Mourning Ring and I give unto my Daughter Rachel Rowe Twenty Pounds to be paid unto her within Three Months after my Decease and to the Child or Children which she is now bigg with Twenty Pounds to equally Divided Between them share and share alike at the age of Sixteen Years I Give unto my daughter Christian Hony Eight Hundred Pounds of Lawful Money of Great Brittain to be payable and paid unto her the Day next after my Decease and my Will and meaning is that if it the said Eight Hundred Pounds be not then paid That then my Trustees hereafter named shall pay unto my said Daughter Lawfull Interest for the same for so long time as the same shall remain unpaid. Also I Give unto my said Daughter Christian Hony the best Gold Ring in my keeping Except her Mothers Wedding Ring ------- I Give unto my sister Rebecca Samuels five Pounds to be be paid her the Day next after my Decease to buy a Suit of Mourning. I Give unto all such Servants and Apprentices as shall be living with me at the time of my Death five Shillings apiece to be paid within One Month after my Decease. I Give unto the poor of the parish of Minhinniott five Pounds to be Distributed by my Trustees within Three Months after my Decease. All my Goods Chattels and Creditts of what Nature Kind or Quality soever they be I do hereby give and Bequeath unto the Revd Mr Nicholas Hickes my son in law Mr John Harris and my Son in Law Mr Peter Rowe Subject to the payment of my Debts and Legacys and after the payment and Discharge thereof then in Trust to and for the Only Use and Behoofe of my Son John Hony until he shall attain the Age of One and Twenty Years at which time they shall Yield up and render Accountants him of the same And I do hereby make Nominate and Appoint them said Nicholas Hickes John Harris and Peter Rowe Executors in Trust of this my Last Will and Testament Lastly my Will and Meaning is that if my son John Hony shall happen to die without Heirs that then in such case all my Lands shall go and Descend unto my Three Daughters Diana Harris Rachael Rowe and Christian Hony and their Heirs forever. In Witness whereof I have howunto put my hand and Seal this One and Twentyeth Day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty and Seven.

The beforewritten Will was Proved in Common form the 26th June 1747 Before the Revd Mr Wm Waddon Clerk Mr of Arts Official etc and Admion of the Goods etc of the Deced was granted to John Hony the Son of the said Deced and Principal Legatee named in the said Will John Harris Gent. and Peter Rowe Gent. the Surviving Executors in Trust named in the said Will under their Hands and Seals first renounceing being first Sworne etc/Saveing etc
