Return to Mawgan in Pydar Parish Page The Will of William Roberts , dated 23 July 1746In the Name of God Amen I William Roberts of the Parish of
Mawgan in Pydar in the County of Cornwall being Sick and weake in Body but of
Sound and Disposeing Mind and Memory do make this my last Will and Testament
hereby revokeingall former Wills by me made IMPRIMIS I recommend my Soul to the
Mercy of its Creator and my Body to Christian Buriall hopeing in and thro’ the
Merritts and Mediation of our Saviour for forgiveness of my Sins and a Joyfull
resurrection as to my Worldly Goods with which it has pleased God to bless me I
do hereby Dispose of the same in the Manner following That is to say I Give and
Bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth Dungey the sum of Ten Poundsto be paid her at
at one Year after my deceaseand I Give and Bequeath unto my Sister Jane
Dancaster the sume of Two pounds---to be paid her at the End of One Year after
my Decease and my Will and……Meaning is that my said Sisters Elizabeth Dungey and
Jane Dancaster shall Enjoy their said Legacyes to Own Separate Uses independent
and without the Control of their Several Husbands Item I Give unto my Nephews
Henry Dungey William Dungey and Francis Dungey Sons of my Brother law Francis
Dungey Five pounds Apeice to be paid them at the End of Two Years after my
Decease Item I Give unto Samuel May Elizabeth May and Jane May __ Son and
Daughters of Samuel May of Mawgan aforesaid forty shillings__ each to be paid
them at the End of Two Years after my death Item I__Give and Bequeath unto Mary
Hinch and Elizabeth CayzerDaughters of my Brother Nicholas Roberts Deced the Sum
of Five Pounds each to be paid them at the End of two years after my decease
Item I Give unto my Brother laws Francis Dungey Samuel May and Thomas Dancaster
Five Shillings each to be paid them at the End of Two Years after my Death Item
I Give unto Mary Pearce Wife of John Pearce of the Parish of Roach in the said
County of Cornwall Two Guineas to be paid her at the End of Two Years after my
death Item I Give unto my Nephew James Dungey__ Son of the said Francis Dungey
my Brother law five Pounds to be paid at the End of Two Years after my death
Item I Give and Bequeath__unto my dear Wife Dorcas Roberts my Tenement in
Trenouth in the __parish of St Cullombmajor in the County of Cornwall called
Trembeath Larks during her Lifeif my Right in the Estate so long Continue and
from and after her Decease I Give and Bequeath the same unto my Brother Francis
Roberts during the then Remainder of my Estate therein Item I Give and Bequeath
unto my said Wife all my Tenement in Trembeath in the __Parish of Mawgan
aforesaid called Harris’s Tenement during her life if my Estate therein shall so
long Continue she paying thereout the Sum of Five Pounds a Year during that Term
unto my Nephew Nicholas Dancaster and from and after her Decease I Give and
Bequeath the said Tenement called Harris’s Tenement unto the said Nicholas
Dancaster during the Terme of his Natural life if my Estate therein shall so
long Continue and from and immediately after the Decease of my said Wife and the
said Nicholas Dancaster I Give and Bequeath the said Tenement unto my Nephew
James Dungey during the remainder of my Estate therein Item I Give and Confirm
unto my dear Wife my Great Tenement in Trembeath aforesaid and which I have
Settled on her as her Joynture during the Term of her lifeand from after her
Decease I Give and __Bequeath the same unto my Nephew Henry Roberts during the
Residue of my Estate therein upon Condition that he pay unto his sisters Jane
and Margaret Roberts the Sum of Ten Pounds each at the End of One Month after
the Decease of my said Wife Item I Give unto my said (scored out)Brother
Francis Roberts five Shillings to be paid at the End of Two Years after my Death
Item I Give unto John Phillips Son of Henry Phillips late of the parish of St
Breock in the said County Five pounds to be paid at the End of Two Years after
my death Item I Give and Devise all my Lands of Inheritance in Tolcarne in the
said Parish of Mawgan unto my dear Wife during her life without Impeachment of
Waste and from and after her Decease I Give and (continued on page 2 with

The before written Will was proved in Common form the 14th Day of November 1746 Before the Revd, Mr Wm. Waddon Clerke Master of Arts Official cw Aud Admion of all Granted and Singular the Goods etc. of the said Deced and All things howsoever concerning the said will was Granted to the Executrix therein named being first Sworn en saveing one.
