Return to Marazion Parish Page The Will of Robert Millett, dated 22 October 1818This is the last will and testament of me Robert Millett of
the Town of Marazion in the County of Cornwall, Tallow Chandler, made when of
sound and disposing mind memory and understanding tho’ weak and ill in body.
Imprimis. I give devise and bequeath all my household goods and furniture plate
linen china and printed books unto and amongst my three daughters Anne, Anna,
and Elizabeth Millett spinsters who now lives with me and whose affectionate
regards and attentions to me I do hereby acknowledge to be by them held and
enjoyed in coparcenary and jointly whilst they shall continue single and
unmarried and upon the marriage or death of either of my said daughters I give
devise and bequeath the said houshold goods furniture and other articles unto
such of my said daughters and daughter as shall remain single and unmarried or
shall survive her sister or sisters so that the said household goods furniture
and other articles shall rest in and become the property of such one of my said
three daughters as shall remain single and unmarried longest and upon the
marriage or death of two of my said daughters I give devise and bequeath all and
singular my said household goods furniture and other articles to the remaining
daughter as and for her own goods and chattels forever. I do likewise give
devise and bequeath unto each of my said daughters Anne, Anna, and Elizabeth the
sum of one hundred and fifty pounds lawful money current in England to be paid
to them and each of them by my executor hereinafter named in two separate
payments or instalments of seventy five pounds each at the expiration of one
year and two years from the day of my decease with interest payable quarterly
after the rate of five pounds per centum per annum to be computed from the day
of my death to the day of payment. I also give devise and bequeath unto my
daughter Mary the wife of Peter Roskilly of Marazion aforesaid the sum of one
hundred and fifty pounds lawful money current in England and to my daughter
Grace Millett spinster who now resides with my brother Leonard Millett the like
sum of one hundred and fifty pounds lawful money current in England to be
payable and paid to each of them my said daughters Mary and Grace and to their
executors administrators and assigns by my executor hereinafter named in two
separate payments or instalments of seventy five pounds each at the expiration
of one year and two years after my decease without interest for the first year
after my death but from thenceforth subject to interest after the rate of five
pounds per centum per annum to the day of payment. And I do hereby charge and
make liable all and every my lands and tenements goods chattels and effects
whatsoever not hereinbefore given and bequeathed with and to the payment of the
said several hereinbefore mentioned and bequeathed legacies in manner and form
aforesaid. All the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels lands and
tenements and effects of whatever nature kind or description and wheresoever
situate lying and being subject nevertheless to the due discharge and payment of
my just debts funeral expenses and the several legacies hereinbefore by me given
and bequeathed at the times and in the manner hereinbefore expressed. I give
devise and bequeathed unto my only son Robert Millett the younger and to his
heirs executors administrators and assigns as and for his and their own goods
and chattels forever and I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my said
son Robert Millett whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament
revoking all others by me at any time before made. In witness whereof I the said
testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of October in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen. |
