The Will of John Rowe, dated 30 November 1743
In the Name of God Amen I John Rowe of Rospeath within the
parish of Ludgvan in the County of Cornwall Yeoman being sick in Body but of
Sound and Disposing Mind Memor and Understanding praised be God for the same
Considering the frailty and uncertainty of this Mortal Life do make and Ordain
this to be my last Will and Testament in Manor following hereby Revokeing all
former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.
First I Commend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator hoping for a full and free
pardon of all my Sins thro the Merritts and Mediation of my Blessed Saviour and
Redeemer Jesus Christ and my Body to the Earth to be Buried at the Discretion of
my Executrix hereinafter named.
2dly I Will and Desire that all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges be paid by my
Executrix as soon after my Death as Money may be risen out of my Effects for
payment of the same.
3dly I Give and Bequeath to my Mother Grace Rowe Two Guineas to be paid her at
the End of Six Months next after my Death.
4thly I Give and Bequeath to my Sister Jane Penberthy and to her Daughter Jane
Tamlyn and to each of them Two Guineas to be paid them at the End of Six Months
after my Death.
5thly I Give to my Sister law Elizabeth King and to my Cozen George King of St.
Hillary One Guinea each to be paid them at the End of Six Months after my Death.
Lastly all the rest of my Goods Chattells Rights Credits and Effects whatsoever
and whosesoever I do hereby Give Devise and Bequeath to my Dearly Beloved wife
Eleanor Rowe whom I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint to be whole and
sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament The paying my Debts and
Legacyes
In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament Subscribed my Name
and Affixed my Seal this Thirtyeth Day of November in the Year of our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Three.

The before written Will was proved in Common form the 13th May 1747 before the
Revd. Mr. Wm. Waddon Clerk Master of Arts Official etc and Admion of the Goods
etc of the Decd & of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted
to the Executrix therein named / being first ____ etc. / Saveing etc.
N.J. The before written Will is a True Copy Examined & compared with the
Original this 25th Day of May 1747 By us.
