The Will of John Pearse, dated 3 November 1746
In the Name of God Amen I John Pearse of the parish of
Ludgvan in the County of Cornwall Yeoman being Sick and Weak in Body but of
sound and perfect memory thanks be Given to Almighty God therefore but Calling
to Mind the Mortality of my Body and that it is Appointed for all men once to
Dye I do make and Ordain this as my last Will and Testament in Manner and form
following (That is to say) I give my Soul to God that Gave it hopeing thro the
Merritts of Jesus Christ to have full pardon and foregiveness for the same and
my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Christian like and Decent
Manner by my Executor hereafter named and as touching my Worldy Goods which it
hath pleased Almighty to bless me with I Give Devise and Dispose of them in the
Manner following.
Imp(rimi)s I will that all my Debts and funeral Charges be paid and Discharged
by my Executor hereafter named.
Item I Give unto my Dearly Beloved Wife Blanch her Eight pounds a year as my
Father John Pearse and me have Gave Bond for et at our Marriage to be paid her
Yearly during her Natural live and one pound per Year So long do she Continue a
Widdow to be pd her by my Exectr hereafter named but if she Chance to Marry then
the One pound per Year to Cease and not be paid her no more after marryage.
Item I Give unto my son John Pearse the Inheritance in Fee of the Houses in St.
Ives called Mr. Diggins Houses to him and his Heirs forever.
Item As for all my Estat Goods & Chattells of what Nature or Quality soever they
be movable and immovable I Give and Bequeath unto my Son John Pearse whom I do
make and Ordain my Whole and Sole Executor and do Utterly Denye Revoke and
Disannull all former Wills and Testaments by me formerly done or made and I do
Desire my Loving Father John Pearce and my Beloved wife Blanch and my Brother
law William Curgenven to be Guardians & Trustees over my Executor during his
minority and to do and Act as they shall think fit and to take care that my Will
be duly proved in Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seal this
Third Day of November One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Six

The before written Will was proved in Common Form the 13th
May 1747 Before the Revd. Mr. Wm. Waddon Clk Mr. of Arts Official etc. And
Admion of the Goods etc. of the Decd. And of all things heresoever Concerning
the said Will was Granted to the Guardian and Trustees therein named, during the
Monority of John Pearse the son of the sd. Decd, and the whole and Sole Executor
named in the said Will (being first Sworn etc.) Saveing etc.

The before written Will is a True Copy Examined
and Compared with the Original this 25th May 1747
