The Will of Richard John,  dated 11 November 1741

In the Name of God Amen the Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord 1741. I Richard John of Ludgvan in the County of Cornwall yeoman being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be Given unto God therefore calling unto mind the Mortallity of my Body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament That is to Say Principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same again by the Mighty Power of God; and as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I Give, Devise, and Dispose of the Same in the following manner & form.
 
Imprimis I give and Bequeath unto Anne John my Elder Daughter the Sum of Sixty Pounds of Good and Lawfull Monyes to be paid unto her by my Executors when She is one and Twenty years of age.
 
Item I Give to my Daughter Lovdee John the Sum of Fifty Pounds of Good and Lawfull Monyes to be paid unto her by my Executors when she is one and Twenty years of age.
 
Item I do order and make William John my Son and Margey my wife my Sole and full Exectors [sic] of this my Last Will and Testament of all my Lands messuages and Tenements by them freely to be possessed and Enjoyed and likewise all my Stock and Goods Bills, Bonds and all other writings whatsoever yielding and paying all dues, debts and demands. And I do hereby utterly disallow Revoke and Disannull all and every other former Testaments, Wills and Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before this time named; I do likeways make and Impower Matthew Woollcock and Hosea Nicholls to be Trustees and Gardyens over my Executors Impowering them to Set, Let and do all Reasonably Things for the preferment of my family and If Margey my wife Shall happen as Chance to be marryed to any other man She is to go off Peaceably yielding [sic] up all her right and Title to William John the Executor and only to Receive of the Executor the Summe of one Shilling Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hear unto Set my Hand and Seal the day and year above written.

Semmens the guardian Elected during the Minority of Wm. John the Son & the other of the Exectrs Named in the Said Will (being first ______) Saveing ___)
