The Will of William Gilles,  dated 12 October 1747

In the Name of God Amen I William Gilles of the parish of Ludgvan in the County of Cornwall yeoman being in perfect health and Memory praised be to God for it and knowing the Certainy of death and how uncertain when it will be do hereby make this my Last Will and Testament in Manner and form following that is to say.
 
First I Bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator trusting in the Meritts of Jesus Christ my Redeemer for the forgiveness of all my Sins and my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken there to be decently Intereed as my Executors hereafter named shall think fitt and Convenient so to do.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Edmond Gilles my Dwelling house and Orchard, Gardens and Meddo the to belonging and the Croft under the Orchard he paying the Lord Twenty Shillings ___ year.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son William Gilles my Two dwelling houses that Trefena Gilles and John Walker now Live in with the Orchard and Gardens thereto Belonging at the two higher Crofts that’s pt. of the Tenet. Of Pulgrenn he paying the Landlord Twenty five Shillings par year.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Jone Gilles five Pounds to be paid her when She Shall attain the age of one and Twenty years and if She Shall not Live with her Brothers untill She attain to the age of Twenty one Years then they are to pay her forty Shillings.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Gilles five pounds to be paid her when She Shall attaine the age of one and Twenty Years and to have her Maintenance of my Executr untill She attain to the age of Sixteen Years.
 
And Lastly I hereby Constitute ordain and appoint my said Sons Edmond and William Gilles my full whole and Sole Executors Jointly of all my Goods and Chattels moveable and immoveable without do_s and within of what Nature and Kind soever I Shall dye possest of they my Executrs. paying all my debts, legacies and funeral charges hereby ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament and disannulling all former wills by me made. In Witness whereof I the Said William Gilles have hereunto Sett my Hand and Seale this Twelfth day of October One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Seven.

William Gilles before the Signing and
Sealing to be his last Will and Testament
And then Signed and Sealed in presence of us
The words _hee and her that’s inter-
Lined in the foreside was interlined before
The Sealing and Signing of this paper

William Gilles deced is a true Copy Examined and
Compared with the Orignall this 6th

The Before written will of the above named William Gilles was Proved in Common form the 11th May 1749 Before the Revd. Will. Wasson Clk Master of Arts Official etc. and admion of the Goods etc. of the said decd. And of all things howsoever Concerning the said Will was Granted to Edmund Gilles the Son of the said deced and one of the Exects Named in the Said Will Reserving a Power of Granting the like admion to William Gilles the son also and the other Exectr in the said Will named when he shall think fit to take the same upon himself Being first Sworne etc. Saveing etc.
