Will of John Samwell, dated 14
April 1823
Lostwithiel 28th April 1828
Will of John SAMWELL Gentleman deced proved in Common
form before John WALLIS Jnr Clk Surrg &c And Admion of
all & singr the Goods &c of the said deced and any way
concerning his said Will was granted to Elizabeth
SAMWELL the Widow & Sole Executrix being first Sworn

In the Name of God Amen I John SAMWELL of the Borough of
Lostwithiel in the County of Cornwall Gentleman do make
and publish my last Will and Testament in manner
following (that is to say) First I direct all my just
debts and funeral charges to be paid by my Executrix
hereinafter named, Secondly I give and bequeath to my
son William SAMWELL for his life my silver tankard and
after his death I give and bequeath the same unto such
person as shall be in possession of the Barton of Pill
in the Parish of Lanlivery if such person shall be
tenant for life only then I give the said silver tankard
to such person for his or her life, and if tenant in
tail, then I give the said silver tankard as far as the
law permits to such person as an heir loom to accompany
the possession of the said Barton of Pill All the rest
and residue of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and
wheresoever the same may be I hereby give and bequeath
the same unto my dear Wife Elisebeth SAMWELL her
Executors Administrators and assigns absolutely (subject
to my just debts and funeral expences and the expence of
proving this my Will And I do hereby nominate and
appoint my said dear Wife the sole Executrix of this my
last Will and Testament Hereby revoking all former Wills
by me at any
time heretofore made I do declare this to be my last
Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof I the said John SAMWELL the Testator
have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and
Seal this fourteenth day of April One thousand eight
hundred and twenty three.

SAMWELL the Testator as and for his last Will and
Testament in the presence of us who have at his request
and in the presence of him and of each other set our
names as witnesses thereto
