PROBATE OF THE WILL OF RICHARD REED
THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me RICHARD REED
of Lostwithiel in the County of Cornwall Merchant and
Lime Burner.
I GIVE and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Ann Reed and
my son John Reed and John Richard Collins of Bodmin
Solicitor ALL my Real and Personal property Subject to
the payment of my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary
expenses UPON TRUST that the said Elizabeth Ann Reed
John Reed and John Richard Collins or the survivors or
survivor of them or the executors administrators or
assigns of such survivor hereinafter called “Trustees”
shall in their or his discretion permit the same or any
part to remain Invested in the Lime Coal and Merchants
Business of my son Richard Reed (or otherwise on loan to
him)or as the same shall be invested at my decease with
power to lend him further money for the Business on such
Personal or other Security as they see fit and with
power to invest any part of my Trust Estate as Trustees
are permitted to invest by law, or on the Securities or
Fund of any Colony or Dependency of the United Kingdom
or on Leasehold Securities in England or on the
Debentures or Debenture Stock of any Railway in Great
Britain. And upon further Trust to pay the sum of £100
each to each of my three children HARRIET REED, MARY
TREFFRY HAWKENS REED and ALICE REED and £150 to my son
REGINALD GEORGE REED as each attains the age of twenty
one years and shall pay the Income of my Trust Real and
Personal Estate (subject to the payment of my Debts
Funeral and Testamentary expenses as aforesaid, and
aforesaid Legacies) to my Wife Elizabeth Ann Reed during
her life Subject to the obligation of her maintaining
educating and clothing my younger children till such
child shall attain the age of twenty one years AND after
the decease of my Wife I direct my son John Reed and
John Richard Collins or the survivor of them or his
representatives their or his assigns to sell my Real and
Personal Estate and get in and convert the same into
money and divide the same equally among all my children
living at the attainment of majority of my youngest
child. I declare that if any child of mine shall
previously to the attainment of majority of my youngest
child leaving issue living at the attainment of majority
by my youngest child Such issue taking any substitution
and equally between them if more than one AND I declare
that my Trustees may advance or raise on any part
exceeding one half of the expectant share or fortune of
any child of mine after attainment of seventeen years of
age for the advancement in the world of such child. I
give my Trustees power to Lease any of my Real or
Leasehold property. I appoint my said wife Elizabeth Ann
Reed and my son John Reed and John Richard Collins
EXECUTOORS of this my Will. AND I declare my meaning to
be that my Trustees shall retain my real and personal
property as they in their discretion shall think most
advisable and that they shall not be responsible for
money or property lent to my son Richard Reed, and to
sell the same by Public Auction or provide Contract in
the usual manner as and when they think fit. I declare
that Mr John Richard Collins may make and be paid his
professional Charges in connection with my estate. IN
WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 1st day
of May 1888

IN HER MAJESTIES HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE
BE IT KNOWN, that at the dte hereunder written, the last
Will and Testament (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed)
of Richard Reed late of Lostwithiel in the County of
Cornwall Merchant and Lime Burner deceased who died on
the 2nd June 1888 at Lostwithiel aforesaid and who at
the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at
Lostwithiel aforesaid, within the District of the County
of Cornwall was proved and registered in the District
Registry attached to the Probate Division of Her
Majesties High Court of Justice at Bodmin and that
Administration of the personal estate of the said
deceased was granted by the aforesaid court to Elizabeth
Ann Reed, widow the Relict and John Reed the son, two of
the Executors named in the said will they having been
first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same.
Power reserved of making the like grant to John Richard
Collins the other Executor named in the said will.
And it is hereby certified that an Affidavit in
verification of the Account of the said estate has been
delivered wherein it is shown that the gross value of
the said estate amounted to £1182 11 5 and no more
