Will of Peter Williams, dated 25 July 1745

In the Name of God Amen I Peter Williams of ye. Burrough of Liskeard in the County of Cornwall Blacksmith being of perfect mind Sound Memory and Reasonable Understanding but knowing the Uncertainty of the Transitory Life do make Constitute and Ordain this to be my last Will and Testamt. Revokeing and Dissannulling all other and former Wills by me made published executed or Declared First of all I recommend my soul in to the hands of god who first gave me being & my Body to Christian burial According to the Discretion of my Executrix also I give unto James Hill my Son in law One Shilling also I give unto my daughter Joan Hill all than one House Outhouses Courtledge Backside Garden and premisses that I now live in lyeing and being in One Street in the said Burrough of Liskeard there called Church Street with the Third part of the Household Goods But thesd. Joan Hill shall not Waste Destroy or proloin any of thesd. Household Goods during her life nor Suffer the same to be done but it shall be to her the said Joan Hill only in her own Right and not to any Use Benefitt or Disposall of James Hill her said Husband and from and after her Death then I give and Bequeath thosd. Dwelling House unto my Two Grandaughters Jointly and the Survivor of them also I Give unto my Daughter Joan Hill the Remainder being two Thirds of my household Goods now in my said House in Trust and to and for ye. Only Use of Rebecca Hill and Joan Hill my Granddaughters to them and the Survivor of them when they shall become Eighteen Years of Age or Marryed, Also I give and Devise unto my Daughter Joan Hill all my three plots of Land lying within thesd. Burrough of Liskeard being the Lands of the said Burrough called or knowne by the name of the Mill Moores with their and every (?) of their Appurtenances In Trust and to and for the Only Use and Behoofe of my said Granddaughters Rebecca Hill and Joan Hill and their Issue lawfully begotten or to the Survivor of them But in case thesd. Rebecca Hill and Joan Hill shall happen to dye without Issue then thesd. Premised with the Appurtenances shall be remain and Continue unto my Daughter Joan Hill during the Remainder of the Terms thesd. Premised before given and Devised shall be unto my two Granddaughters Rebecca Hill and Joan Hill when they or the survivor of them shall be Eighteen Years of Age or Marryed, The Legacy given James Hill shall be paid when demanded, Also I Constitute Ordain and Appoint Joan Hill my Daughter to be my Whole and Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament for paymt. of my just and due Debts and Legacyes In Witness whereof I have how unto Sett my hand and seal this Twenty fifth Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred & forty five 1745.

The above written Will was proved in Common Form the 6th Day of October 1746 Before the Revd, Mr(?) Wm. Waddon Clk Mr. of Arts Official etc. And Admion of the Goods etc. Of the sd. Deced and of all things howsoever Concerning his said Will was Granted to the Executrix therein named (being first sworn er./ Saveing etc.)

In: 45L.5.s 0d (£ 45..5shillings and 0 pennies) The above written Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the above named? Peter Williams Examined and Compared with the Original this 3rd Day of October 1746 By us.
