Will of John Reynolds, dated 1 August 1744

In the Name of God Amen I John Reynolds belonging to his Majestyes Ship Weymouth being of sound & Dispoveing Mind and Memory and Considering the Perils and Danger of the Seas and Uncertaintyes of this Transitory Life, do, for avoiding Controversies after my Decease make publish and Declare this my last Will and Testament in Manner following that is to say, First I commend my Soul to God that Gave it and my Body to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to Order; and as for all my Wordly Estate I Give, Bequeath and Dispose thereof as followeth That is to say unto my loving Father Samuel Reynolds of the Town of Biscard in the County of Cornwall all and singular such wages Sum and Sums of Money Lands Tenements Goods Chattells and Estate whatsoever as shall be anywise Due Oweing or Belonging unto me at the time of my Decease I Give Devise and Bequeath the same unto my Loveing Father Samuel Reynolds of the place a foresaid And I do hereby Nominate and Appoint the said Samuel Reynolds sole Executto. of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revokeing all former and Other Wills Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time hereafter made and I do ordain and Ratifye these presents to Stand and befor my only last Will and Testament In Witness whereof to this my said Will I have Sett my hand and Seal the First Day of August and in the Sevententh Year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord King George the Second over Great Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty four.

The before written Will was Proved in Common Form the 29th May 1747 Before the Revd. Mr Wm Waddon Clerk Mr. of Arts Official etc. And Admion of the Goods etc. Of the Deced and of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted to the Executr therein named /being first Sworn etc. / Saveing etc.

The Before written Will is a True coppy Examined and Compared with the Original this 10th June 1747 By us.
