Will of Samuel Curteys, dated 14 July 1741

In the Name of God Amen I Samuel Curteys of the parish of Liskeard in the County of Cornwall Soapboiler being in Good Health but yet thinking on mortality do make my last Will and Testament in manne r following First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Buryed in a Christian like and Decent manner at the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and as for those Wordly things I have I do give Order and Dispose of as in manner following Item I give unto Samuel Curteys my son One Shilling Item I give to William my son One Shilling Item I give unto John my son One Shilling Item all the Rest of my Goods and Chattells and things whatsoever which I have I do give unto my Beloved Wife Catherine Curteys whom I Appoint make and Constitute to be my Executrix and she to pay my funeral Expence Debts and Legacyes and after that is paid and Discharged my said Executrix quietly to Enjoy all my Goods and Chattells for her Own Use during her natural life that is she to have the Rents and Profitts of the same during her life And further I hereby Order and my Will is that my said Executrix shall not Sele any of my Chattle Estate nor none of my Goods but only for to pay my funeral Expenses Debts and Legacyes and to take the Rents and Profitts of my Goods and Chattells during her life for her maintainance and after her Decease my said Goods & Chattells shall remain & be for the Only Use of John Curteys my son above named and to and for none other Use Intent or purpose whatsoever and I doe hereby revoke and make Void all former Wills by me made making this & no other my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal the Fourteenth Day of July in the Year of our Lord God One Thousandseven Hundred forty one

The before written Will was proved in Common form the 3rd April 1747. Before the Revd. Mr Wm Waddon Clerk Master of Arts Official et. And Administration of the Goods et. of the Deced & of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted to the Execis. therein named being first Sworne et. Saveing et.

The before written Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the above named Samuel Curteys Deced Examed &? compared with the Original this 14th Day of April 1747 By us
