The Will of Mary Symons, dated 2 December 1747

In the name of God Amen the second day of December 1747. I Mary Symons of the parish of Lesnewth in the County of Cornwall widdow Being very sick and weak of Body butt of perfect mind and memory thanks being given unto God therefore Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that itt is appointed for all Persons Once to die do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testyment that is to say Principally and first of all
I give and recammend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I Recammend to the earth to be buried in desent Christian Buriall at the discrestion of my Executor hoping I shall receive the same again att the General Resurrection by the mighty power of God, as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life. I give Demise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form. I do give to Joan the Box and gres. Then I give and Bequeath to my sone Edward Jose one shilling to be paid by my Executor one year after my Decease. I do give to my sone Penticost Simons one shilling to be paid by my Executor one year after my Decease. I do give to my daughter Joan Pope all my wearing apparel exept my best stays and shag hatt. Likewise I give to my daughter Joan a little tub. I do give to my daughter Mary Taylor one shilling to be paid by executor one year after my decease.
I do give to my daughter Gale Bastard one shilling to be paid by my executor one year after my decease. I do give my Grandson Phylip Symons the son of Pentycost five shillings to be paid by my executor one year after my decease. I give to my Grandaughter Joan Pope my best brass pan. I do give to my Grandaughter Jane Symons the daughter of Phillip my little brass pan and best stays. I give to my dearly beloved son Phylip Symons whome I do likewise make and ordayne my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testyment of all my chattel estate and money and all my worldly goods what some ever I am now possess of by him freely to be possesed and injoyed and I do utterly revoke all other former wills and testyment. In witness hearto I have hereto sett my hand and seal
