The order of Nicholas Connock Esq. and Joshua Howell Clerk two of his majesties Justices of the Peace in and for the said County one where of is of the Quorum and both residing next unto the limits of the Parish Church within the Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey in the said County made the Sixteenth Day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty five concerning a female bastard child lately born in the Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey aforesaid of the body of Mary Stephens single woman:
 
Whereas it hath appeared unto us the said Justices as well upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey as upon the Oath of the said Mary Stephens that she the said Mary Stephens on the sixteenth Day of April now last past was delivered of a female bastard child at Polruan in the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey in the said County and that the said bastard child is now chargeable to the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey and likely so to continue and further that John Geach of the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey is the said County Labourer did beget the said bastard child on the body of her the said Mary Stephens. And whereas the said John Geach hath appeared before us in pursuance of our summons for that purpose, but hath not shewed any sufficient cause why he the said John Geach shall not be the reputed father of the said bastard child: We therefore upon examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the premises as well upon the oath of the said Mary Stephens as otherwise do hereby adjudge him the said John Geach to be the reputed father of the said bastard child.
 

And thereupon we order and adjudge, as well for the better relief of the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey as for the sustentation and relief of the said bastard child that the said John Geach shall and do forthwith upon notice of this our order pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Lanteglos by Fowey or to some or one of them the Sum of two pounds and ten shillings for and towards the lying in of the said Mary Stephens and the maintenance of the said bastard child to the time of making this our order.
 
And we do hereby also further order that the said John Geach shall likewise pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey for the time being or to some or one of them the sum of one shilling weekly and every week on munday from this present time for and towards the keeping sustentation and maintenance of the said bastard child for and during so long time as the said bastard child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey.
 
And we do further order that the said Mary Stephens shall also pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey for the time being or to some or one of them the sum of six pence weekly and every week on munday so long as the said bastard child be chargeable to the said Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey in case she shall not nurse and take case of the said child herself
