Return to Lanteglos by Camelford Parish Page The Will of Nancy Langdon, dated 11 May 1860This is the Last Will and testament of me Nancy Langdon of
Camelford in the County of Cornwall Widow. I give devise and bequeath all my
real and personal Estate Money and securities for Money unto Richard Rowe and
Elijah Rowe both of the parish of Lanteglos by Camelford in the said County
Yeomen their heirs executors administrators and assigns. Upon Trust in the first
place to pay and discharge out of my personal estate my just debts funeral and
testamentary expenses and also to discharge the sum of Two hundred and fifty
Pounds and interest now charged on my real estate. And should my personal estate
prove insufficient for that purpose I hereby authorise my said Trustees to sell
and dispose of my right and interest in the lands of Kings Down or any of my
messuages lands and hereditaments in the parishes of Tintagel Saint Teath and
Lanteglos by Camelford and out of the proceeds of such sale or sales (if any)
first to pay off and discharge the sum of four hundred and fifty pounds and
interest or such part thereof as shall remain unpaid and to execute any deed or
deeds of the conveyance of the property so sold and to give receipts for the
purchase money or moneys shall be a sufficient discharge in the purchase or
purchases for their respective purchase Moneys And next to pay the surplus (if
any) unto my second son Richard Jolliffe Langdon I devise my estate call
Pethicks situate in the parish of Tremaine in the said County unto my Son John
Langdon and his heirs and should he die without issue lawfully begotten then I
devise the same unto my said second Son Richard Jolliffe Langdon and his assigns
during his natural life and after his decease I give and devise the same unto my
four Grandchildren Richard Rowe Elisabeth Rowe Elijah Rowe and Anna Maria Rowe
(sons and Daughters of John Bawden Rowe now in the Colony of New Zealand and to
their respective heirs and assigns as tenants in common and not as joint
tenants. And I also give and bequeath unto my said four Grandchildren and the
survivors or survivor of them a legacy of twenty Pounds sterling share and share
alike. And I direct my said Trustee to hold the same sum in trust for them until
they respectively shall attain the age of twenty one years or shall marry. I
give devise and bequeath the remainder of my real and personal estate unto my
said Son Richard Jolliffe Langdon and his heirs. And should he die without issue
lawfully begotten then I devise and bequeath the same unto my said four
Grandchildren Richard Rowe Elizabeth Rowe Elijah Rowe and Anna Maria Rowe their
respective heirs and assigns as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.
Provided always And I hereby declare that if my said son Richard Jolliffe
Langdon shall at any time require a sum of Money for advancement in his Business
then I empower my said Trustees upon receiving reasonable Notice in writing from
him of his requiring Money for that purpose to sell the residue of my real
estate situate in the parishes of Tintagel Saint Teath and Lanteglos by
Camelford and to execute any deed or deeds thereof and to give receipts as
aforeseaid. And the Money to arise from such sale or sales (if any) after paying
all expenses attending the same to be paid unto my said Son Richard Jolliffe
Langdon for his use as aforesaid An I hereby further declare that my said
Trustees shall be chargeable only with such Moneys as they or he respectively
shall actually receive and shall not be answerable the one for the other of them
nor for any Banker Broker or other person in whose hand any of the Trust Moneys
shall be place or for the insufficiency or deficiency of any Stocks Funds Shares
or securities or otherwise for involuntary losses And my said Trustees or
Trustee for the time being may reimburse themselves or himself out of the Moneys
which shall come by their or his hands or hand under the trusts aforesaid all
expenses to be incurred in or about the aforesaid Trusts And I appoint the said
Richard Rowe and Elijah Rowe executors of this my last will. |
