The Will of Peter Trewbody, dated 4 August 1677

I.... Tricesimo die mensis Augusti Anno din millimo sexcenmo sevtuagmo sevtimo ....
(30th August 1677)
 
.... the Name of God Amen: I Peter TREWBODY of the parrish of Land livery in the County of Cornwall gent: being sick and weak in body, but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to God for it doe make Constitute and appoint this my Last will, and Testament this fowerth day of August Anno Dom: 1677 In maner and form
following:
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of god that gave it me and my body to Christian buriall
Item I give to the poore of the parrish of Land Livery twenty shillings to be distributed within one yeare next after my decease according to the Discretion of my Ececutrix.
Item I give to my son Charles TREWBODY the bedsteed over the New Kitching with the Curtains vallens Feather bed boulster two pillows one Coverled, one paire of blankets with all things usually belonging to the furnishing that bed, also
one pair of the best sheets one silver salt the furnace and best Crock provided that if the said Charls dye without isue it shall be Left to my next heir Male
Item I give to my daughter Ann TREWBODY one shilling:
Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth SAMWELL one shilling
Item I give to my grandaughter Ann SAMWELL forty shillings
Item I give to my son Peter TREWBODY to be paide when he shall attaine the age of one and twenty sixscore pounds (£120) and in Case my Executrix refuse to pay and faile in payment of the said sume of sixscore pounds that then my will and pleasure is that my son Peter TREWBODY; shall have in Lieu therof my tenement of Litle Polh(-) orden: during the terme to him and his Assignes and alsoe the two hill parks after my wifes decease during the tyme I shall have in it to him and to his Assignes Likewise and alsoe forty pounds to be paide when he shall attaine the Age of one and twenty and that my Executrix shall allow him fitt and Convenient maintainance suitable to one of his degree till he shall attaine the age for the receiving the said Legacie
Item I give to my daughter Mary TREWBODY when she shall attaine the age of one and twenty one hundred pounds and incase my Executrix shall faile of paying the said sume that then in Lieu therof my will and pleasure in that my daughter Mary shall have my Tenement of Huntingdowne and Huntingdown Meadow during the term I have in it to her and to her Assignes and Likwise forty pounds to be paide when she shall attaine the said age of one and twenty and that my Executrix shall allow her fitt and Convenient maintainance sutable to one of her degree untill she shall attaine the age for the receiving the said Legace
Item I give and bequeath to my two yonger sons John and Nathaniell TREWBODY as they shall severally attaine the age of one and twenty to each of them three score pounds (£60) and incase my Executrix faile in payment of the said sume that then my will and pleasure is in lieu therof they shall have Equally to be devided betweene them all my ho(-) usehold goods Except such of the goods as are before bequeathed together with all the plowstuffe and uten(-)sels therto belonging my Executrix allowing them fitt and convenient maintainance sutable to there degree untill they shall attaine the age for the receiving their said legace and in Case my Executrix with the adv(-)ice of the trustees herafter mentioned shall bind either or both of my said sons John and Nathaniell Apprentices to any fitt and convenient calling that then what money she shall disburse and charges she shall be att for the binding of them out shall be allowed her out of the said legacies and farther my will and pleasure is that incase either of my fower yonger children Peter Mary John and Nathaniell happen to die that then the deceaseds portion (Except what hath beene disbursed for binding them out or setting them a broade for there education) shall Equally be devided Amongst the survivor or Su(-)rvivrs of them if the deceased have not attained the age of one and twenty or bounmarried for if any of them attaine the age of one and twenty or be married that then they shall have full power to dispose of their portions as it shall Come payable to whome they shall think fitt and that then mediatly upon marriage or the attaining to the age of One and twenty their yearly maintainance shall cease
Item All the rest of my goods and Chattels I give and bequeath to my deare wife Sibella TREWBODY whom I doe:- make constitute and Appoint the whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament desireing my faithfull freinds William SAMWELL gent: William WILLIAMS of Bodinick mrchant and Jonathan TINGCOMBE of foye gent: to be aiding and assisting my dear wife in the Execution of this my last will and Testament In witnes wherof I have herunto sett my hand and seale the day
and yeare first above written
