MEMORANDUM on the sale of PENBURTHEN in the Parish of Lanivet to Mrs Rebecca Bews on the 29th of September 1901 by the representatives of the late Thomas Julian a small plot of land formerly waste adjoining the highway leading from Treffry to Trebell but then enclosed by Thomas Julian Higgs and in his occupation was expressly excepted. The Estate of Penburthen was copyhold of the manor of Carnanton but has since been enfranchised except the said small plot The Steward of the said Manor has written under date the 9th January 1902 saying that no High Rent will be due to the Manor in respect of the plot It is therefore now regarding as freehold and it is still in the occupation of the said Thomas Julian Higgs
