Know all Men by these
Presents, That I Samuel Turner of the Parish of Landulph
in the County of Cornwall Cordwainer am held & firmly
Bound unto Walter Lang & Joseph Williams Yeomen the
present Church-wardens and John Waller Gent. & Richard
Barrett Yeoman the present Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Landulph & County aforesaid, and to their
successors for the Time being, and to every and either
of them, in the Penal Sum of Fifty Pounds of good &
Lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid unto them the
said Walter Lang Joseph Williams, John Waller and
Richard Barrett the said present Church-wardens &
overseers, and to their successors for the time being,
or to some or one of them, For which payment well and
truly to be made, I bind my Self my Heirs Executors &
Administrators firmly by these Presents Sealed with my
Seal, dated this fifth day of April, In the Thirtieth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
Third, by the grace of God of Great Britain France &
Ireland King Defender of the Faith, etc. and in the year
of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety.
Whereas Ann Treplett of the sd Parish of Landulph single
woman, hath sworn before John Clark Esq. one of his
Majestie’s Justices of the Peace for the County of
Cornwall aforesaid, That the above bound Samuel Turner
is the father of the male Child she hath lately been
delivered of, which is likely to become chargeable to
the Parish of Landulph aforesaid. Now the Condition
of this Obligation is such That if the above bound
Samuel Turner, his Heirs executors or admn’s do and
shall from time to time, & at all times hereafter, fully
& clearly acquit, free & Discharge, or well and
sufficiently save, & keep harmless & indemnified, the
above named Walter Lang, Joseph Williams, John Waller, &
Richard Barrett, Church-wardens & Overseers of the poor
of the Parish if Landulph aforesaid, and their
successors for the time being, and every of them, as
also the inhabitants & parishioners of the said Parish
of Landulph which now are, or hereafter shall be, for
the time being, and every one of them, of & from all
manner of expenses, damages, costs, & charges
whatsoever, which may at any time hereafter arise,
happen, grow or be imposed upon them, or either or any
of them, for, or by reason or means of the maintenance,
education & bringing up of such male Child, and of, &
from all other actions, suits troubles charges, damages,
& demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same,
Then this obligation to be void, or otherwise to be, and
remain in full force and virtue –
