The Will of Richard Pearce, dated 7 May 1743
 

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Pearce of the Parish of St Keverne in the County of Cornwall Yeoman being weak in Body but of Sound Mind Memory and Understanding (blessed be God) and considering the Frailty and Uncertainty of this life do make this my last Will and Testament mannor and form following and first I Bequeath my Soul unto almighty God /who gave it / Comfortably expecting a Joyfull Resurrection to Eternal life throu’ the merritts and Intercession of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Chriist Jesus and my Body I committ to Christian Burial according to the Direction of my Executor hereinafter names. Next I Give and Bequeath unto Grace my Dear Wife the Sum of Five pounds to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named at the End of One Year after my Death Next I Give unto my Daughter Mary the Wife of Solomon Lawrance and to each of her Children the Sum of Two Shillings and Sixpence to be paid to each of them by my Executor hereinafter named at the End of One Year after my Death. Next I Give unto my Daughter Elizabeth the wife(crossed out) widow of John Lake the sume of Five pounds to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named at the End of one Year after my Death Next I Give unto my Daughter Grace the Widow of Thomas Nicholas the like Sum of Five pounds to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named at the End of One Year after my Death Next I Give unto my Grandchildren Mary and Elizabeth the Daughters the daughters of my son Richard Decd the sume of Two Shillings and Sixpence a peice to be paid to them by my Executor hereinafternamed at the End of one Year after my Death. Next I Give and Bequeath unto my son John One Annuity or yearly Rent Charge of Six pounds to be Yearly ? and payable out of my Leashold Tenement in Trenithon in the said parish of St Kevern and to be paid to him by me Executor hereinafter named during his natural life if the Term and Estate which I now have in the said Tenement shall so long continue and Endure at the four most usual feasts or Days of Payment of Rent in the Year (that is to say) at Christmas at Ladyday at Midsummer and at Michaelmas by even and equal portions the first payment thereof to be made him at such of the Days as shall first happen next after my Death with power for my said Son John to ? on the said Tenement for this Annuity in case it be not paid him in manner aforesaid And if sufficient Distress be not to be found on the said Tenement Then I Give unto my said son John full power to Enter thereon and to hold and Enjoy the same and to receive and take the Rents Issues and profitts thereof to his own use untill the said Annuity and all arrears thereof with the Cost and Charges of such Entry shall be fully paid him. Next I Give and Bequeath unto all and every the sons and Daughters of my said son John (my Grand Children) the sum of Two Shillings and Sixpence a peice to be paid to them by my Executor hereinafternamed at the End of Three Months after my Death Next I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Hanniball one Annuity or Yearly Rent Charge of Forty Shillings to be Yearly Issuing and payable out of my said Lease hold Tenement in Trenithen aforesaid and to be paid him by my Executor herein after named dureing his nautural life (if the Term which I now have in the said Tenement shall so long continue) at the aforesaid four most usual feasts or days of payment of Rent in the year the first payment thereof to be made at such of these Feasts as shall first Happen next after my death with power also for my for my sd son Hanniball to Distrain on the said Tenement for this Annuity if it be not paid him in manner a forsaid. And if sufficient Distress be not to be found on the said Tenement Then I Give unto my said Son Hanniball full power to Enter thereon and to hold and Enjoy the same and to Receive and take the Rents Issues and profitts thereof to his own Use untill the said Annuity and all Arrears thereof with the Cost and Charges of such Entry shall be fully paid him but my Will and meaning is that on the Expiration of my said present Right and Estate of and in the said Tenement these Annuityes to my said Sons John and Hanniball shall from thenceforth lease and be no longer paid. Next I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my son William the Inheritance in lee of all that my Tenement with all Rights members and Appurtenances to the same belonging in Rosewicke in St Keverne a foresaid commonly caled Daddees Tenement and which I lately purchased of my sd Son Richard Deced formerly the Lands of Alexander Heame Gentleman To hold the same unto my said son William and to his Heirs and Assigns forever to the Only Use Benefitt and Behoofe of my said son William his Heirs and Assigns forevermore. Next I Give devise and Bequeath unto my said son William and to his Heirs and Assisgns forever all other my Lands and Tenements Rents and profitts whatsoever or in whose possession soever? The same now is or may be at the time of my Death, And I also give unto my said Son William all the Rest of my Goods Chattells and personal Estate of what Nature or kind soever or wheresoever the same is or are and I do lowley? Make him whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament And I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me Therefore made In Witness whereof I the said Richard Pearce have hereunto sett my hand and seal this Seventh Day of May in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and forty three.

The before written Will was proved in Common from the 12th May 1747 Before the Revd Mr William Waddon Clerk Ms of Arts Official ? And Admion of Goods of the Dec’ed and of all things howsoever concerning the said Will was Granted to the Exec therein names being first and sworn etc?
