The Will of John Treweeler, dated 9 November 1743
 

In The Name Of God Amen I John Treweeler of the Parish of Kenwyn and County of Cornwall, Blacksmith. Although labouring at present under some indisposition of Bodey yet being of sound and disposing Mind, Memory and understanding through the Mercy of God do make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in Manner and form Folowing. First and principlay I Resign My Soule with the utmost Humility into The Hands of Almighty God my Creator humbley hoping for a blessed Immortality through the Merits and Mediation of my Blessed Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. And my bodey I desire may be decently Buried at ye discreation of my Executors hereinafter named. As for my temporal estate I give devise and dispose of as follows
 
I Give and Bequeath to my Son John ye Sum of one Shilling to be paid Him by my Executors at ye end of one yeare after my Decease
I Give To My Daughter Dorcas ye like Sum of one Shilling to be paid as aforesaid
I Give to My Daughter Mary ye like Sum of one Shilling to be paid as aforesaid
I Give to My Son William the like Sum of one Shilling to be paid as aforesaid
I Give to My Daughter Margery the like Sum of one Shilling to be paid as aforesaid
I Give to My Son Richard The Sum of Five Pounds of Lawful money of Great Britain to be paid Him by my Executricks hereinafter Named within one Month after My Decease the which Sum was given him on ye last will of Dorcas Mitchell of The parish of Cambron, Widow, in order to place him to some trade or business, which my intent and meaning shall be performed at ye Discretion of my Executors. Lastly All the Rest Residue or Remainder of My Goods and Chattels Lands and Tenements of what Nature or Kinde so ever I Give and Bequeath to My Dearly Beloved Wife Margrat Treweler. During her Natural Life and after Har Decease my will and pleasure is that ye said Land and Tenements Goods and Chattels shall Descend unto My Son Thomas on this condition that He shall take care and provide for His Sister Hester, with all things necessary for one of Har of Har (of Har is repeated) Degree and as my Executors in Trust shall think proper untill She shall attaine ye age of Fifteen years, and also pay or cause to be paid to Har the Full Sum of Five pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain ..... and My Farther Will and Desire is that Mr Thomas Henwood Gent. of ye Parish of St. Earth Gent. (Gent. is repeated) and Thomas Pope of Cammelford, Tallow Chandler and My Wife Dorcas (wife has already been stated as Margrat Treweler) to be My Executors in trust to this my last Will and Testament and my farther will is that my Executors shall not be unfavorable the one for ye other, or for ye act deede or default of the other, nor shall any of them be answerable for any part of My Eastate but shuch as shall come to their Respective Hands. And I do hereby revoke all other wills by me formerly made and declare this to be my Laste Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said John Treweeler have set my Hand and Seal this Ninth Day of November in ye yeare of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred And Forty and Three

(The will was proved 26 Feb 1753 in Kenwyn and stated:)
 

The will and bond upon the admion of the goods etc. of one John Trewheeler lately deceased granted to Margaret Trewheeler the widow and relick of the said deceased and one of the Executors in trust named in the said will reserving a power of granting the like admion to Thomas Henwood and Thomas Pope the other Executors in trust in the said will named whom they shall think fit to take the same upon themselves being first sworn before the Rev. Mr. James Walker clerk surrogate etc.? saving etc.? No inventory. ?-----?

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we Margaret Trewheeler of the Parish of Kenwyn in the County of Cornwall, Widow, Abraham Rose of Truro, Merchant, and John Hoskyn of the same borough, Brazier, are held and firmly bound unto the worshipful John Sleech clerk master of Arts and Deacon of the Archdeaconry of Cornwall lawfully constituted in the sum of two hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Archdeacon or to his certain attorney his executs. admins or assignes to which payment well and truly to be made, we oblige ourselves and each of us by himself or herself for the whole, our and each and every of our heirs executs. and admins. firmly by these presents. SEALED with our seals DATED the twenty sixth day of February in the twenty sixth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith --- and in the year of our Lord 1753.
 
THE CONDITION of the above written obligation is such - That if the above bounden Margaret Trewheeler one of the Executors in trust named in the last will and testament of one John Trewheeler late of the parish of Kenwyn deceased
do well and truly perform the contents of the said will and pay the just debts and legacies of the said deceased so far as his goods chattles and credits do or shall extend and the law charge her the said Margaret Trewheeler - - - - - and exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the registry of the Archdeaconry court of Cornwall a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattles and credits of the said deceased that have or shall come to the hands possessing or knowledge of her the said Margaret Trewheeler and render a true and just account thereupon where there unto lawfully required then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue of.
