The Will of John Coad, dated 2 August 1787
 

In the Name of God Amen I John Coad of the Parish of St Ive and County of Cornwall yeoman being not well in Bodily Health but of Perfect Mind and Memory Praised be God do make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament in Manner and forme Following first I Bequeath my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hopeing for Salvation thereof by and Through the Merrits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Cristian Buriel at the Discretion of my Executors and as touching such Goods Estates and Chattels where with it hath Pleased God to Bless me with in this Life I Give Demise and Dispose of the same in the following Manner.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath to my Dearly Beloved Wife the Living in my House and the two Little parks and Edmonds Park During Her Life if her Lives in the House and my Little gray Mare and the Bed and Furniture that I Lye on and half the Furniture in the House and the Best Cow and an Estate called Bodway in the Parish of Menheniot in her Disposal and Thirty Pounds in money
 
Item I Give and Bequeath to my three Sisters and my two Sisters Children that are dead one Hundred Pounds to be Divided Equally between them Share and Share Alike
 
Item I Give to John Mutton my old Servant Man one Ginie and my Market Cote and to Mary Mutton My Servant Maide one Ginie and to my Servant Man Richd Sowden two Ginies and my new Market Cote and to Richd Kelly one Ginie all these above legacies are to be paid in Six Months after my Decease.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Brother Richd Coad Milland in the Parish of St Ive and my Best sute of clothes
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my two Brothers Robert Coad and Rich Coad and their Heirs or Assigns for ever my Estates called Cheraton and Folemore in the parish of St Ive, Share and Share Alike Except that part of Cheraton which I have Given to my wife before.
 
Item I Give and Bequeath unto my two Brothers Robert Coad and Rich Coad all my Stock Corne and Impliments of Husbandry whome I make and ordaine to be my Hole and Sole Executors Share and Share Alike and to pay my onest Depts and legacies herein mentioned. I do hereby Revoke all Former Wills by me Made, Witness my Hand and Seale this Second Day of August in the year of Our Lord 1787.
