The Will of William Slade, dated 11 February 1686

In the name of God Amen. I William Slade of the parish of Gorran
and Countye of Cornwall, yeoman being in health & memory doe make
and ordaine this my last Will & testament in manner & forme
followinge.
Item I give my soul to God and my bodie too bee buried in the
parish church of Gorran
Item I give to Beatrise my Wife in token of my love
the bedsteade furnished which wee usually lie on also one of
the milk pans and the littell chest one dozen of plates and
ten pounds in money which was a legasey given her by her
father.
Item I give to Edward my sonn Five pounds and to Peeter my
sonn Five pounds.
Item I give to John my sonn Forty pounds
Item I give to Simon my sonn one tenement which I have in
Treveor also I give him the land that was bought of Coga by
my father which I bought of my father to have and to hold
the said lands to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give him Ten pounds provided that if William my sonn
shall within one year after my decease shall paye unto the
said Simon my sonn the sume of two hundred and Eighty
pounds that then hee the said William my sonne and his
heirs forever shall have and enjoy the said lands beesides
the ten pounds given.
Item I give unto my daughter Jane Moone five pounds and I give
twenty pounds which my son-in-law Cornelius Moone Oweth me
to be equally divided between his children.
Item I give to each of my daughters-in-law twenty shillings and
to each of their children forty shillings.
Item I give to each of my servants ten shillings
Item I give unto Sampson Hoyten my god sonn Five shillings and
to Mary Rankin my goddaughter Five shillings.
Item I give to the parish Church of Gorran and burying place
there Twenty shillings
Item I give to the poore of Gorran Forty shillings all which
legasies are to bee paid within Twelvemonths after my
decease and all the rest of my goods and Chattells not
given and bequeathed I give and bequeath unto William my
sonn whom I appoint to bee my executor to see my debts and
legasies satisfied which if he doe refuse I only give him
Five pounds and doe appoynt and ordaine Edward my sonn to
bee my executor and doe give and bequeath unto him all my
goods and chattells nott given and bequeathed. In witnesse
whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal this Eleaventh
day of February Anno Domini l686
