The Will of Thomas Hoblyn, dated 23 October 1700

Thomas Hoblyn
In the name of god Amen I Thomas Hoblyn of Trevascus in
the County of
Cornwall gentleman being within the eightyfirst year of my age, but
of disposing mind and memory blessed be god doe make and ordaine this my
last will and testament in manner following
1st I resign my soul unto the hands of god that gave it and my body unto
Xtian buriall in hope of a joyfull resurrection when body and soul shall
be raised
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Hoblyn
fifty pounds to be paid
unto him att the end of one year after my death and I give to his wife
twenty shillings to buy her a ring And to their daughter Alse
five pounds to be
paid unto her when she attains the age of sixteen years and not
otherwise
Item I give unto my son Richard Hoblyn thirty pounds to
be pd unto him
att the end of six months after my death, And to his wife twenty
shillings for a ring
Item I give unto my son in law Slade twenty shillings
to buy him a ring
Item I give unto my daughter Prudence now the wife of
John Hancock Clearke
twenty shillings for a ring, and to her Husband the ring my son
Burrell? gave me by his will, and to their daughter
Grace five pounds
to be paid unto her when she attains the age of sixteen years and
not otherwise
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann now the
wife of Nicholas Hoskin
Clearke the sum of sixty pounds, ten pounds whereof to be paid att the
end of three months after my death, and the other fifty pounds att the
end
of one year after my death
moreover I give unto her fifty pounds more, to be paid unto her any
child
or children she may have by the sd Nicholas Hoskin att
the of
three months next and immediately after the day of marriage & the day
of the death of my eldest son & executor Thomas Hoblyn,
if shee or
any such child be then living, and not otherwise, and for
the payment thereof, I doe hereby charge my Tenement of Trevascus
wherein I have a long number of years yet to come to expiry; xxxxx
a full pformance of the conditionall bond I gave to my sd son in law
Hoskin
before marriage
Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Hoblyn the widow and
relict of my son Achilles
Hoblyn deceased twenty shillings to buy her a
ring and to her eldest sonn
my grandson Thomas Hoblyn I give my chattle Estate both
in Hawkin’s tenemt
& Pierses tenement To have and to hold during the respective estates I
have
in each of them; as alsoe all the household goods bedding pewter brass
linnen and ploughstuff which I bought together with the sd chattles
Estate
of my Cosen Mr Edward Hoblyn of Crahan, who took the
administration of
the goods and Chattles of my sd sonn deceased, likewise I give unto
my grandchild Bridget their daughter ten pounds: and to
their other sonns
John, Achilles and Samuell thirty pounds to be divided
between them
and the Survivors of them, and to be layd out for the binding of them
apprentises or otherwise as my sonns Thomas Hoblyn &
Edward Hoblyn
together with the assent of their mother shall think fitt
All the rest of my goods & chattles I give & bequeath unto my eldest
sonn Thomas
Hoblyn, whom I make the whole and sole
executor of this my last will &
testament and doe declare that my chattle estate in Trevascus and
Trewollais now part of my
testamentary estate, Witness my hand and seale Ober 23 1700
published
