The Will of Richard Broad, dated 22 March 1663

In the name of god Amen I Richard Broad of the pish of Gorran in the County of Cornwall yeoman: being of perfect memory thanks bee to god;
Revoking all manner of former wills; make and constitute this my last will and testamt; I Commend my soule into the hands of god, and Committ my bodv to
Christian buryall; I give and bequeath; towards the repayring of the pish church of Gorran six shillings and eight pence; Itm I give towards the relief
of the poore of the pish of Gorran twenty shillings to be Distributed at my funerall; Itm I give and bequeath unto Agnis my wife one tenement which
I hold of Sr Nicholas Slanning Deceased During her life; alsoe I give to her one Chest and one trunke; one melch cowe; six Ewes; the Featherbed
and forme which is abov the entry; one Brass pott called Mayes pott; one Brass panne Contayning seaven or eight gallons; all which to bee delivered
psently after my death; more I give to my said wife agnis Fower pounds yearely during her naturall life; to bee paid by equall portions quarterly
as mv kinseman Richard the sonne of John Broad Deceased shall soe long live; Notwithstanding my will and meaning in and hereby is; that
if my said wife agnis or any by from or under her; shall impleade? or sue, mollest or trouble my hereafter mentioned Executor; or his assigns for
and Concerning any pretended right which shee my said wife may or might Claime in the tenemt which I now have in treleane which heretofore
was in the possession of John one Robbins by vertue of any articles or Covenants whatsoever, more Especially those articles or Covenants agreed on
betweene my father Richard Broad Deceased ; and Mr william Hyatt bearing date the eighth day of October in the First yeare of the Raign of our late
King Charles deceased; that then the aforesaid bequeast of Fower pounds yearely; to Cease and bee utterly voyd; as alsoe all the aforesaid other
bequeasts; in case shee my said wife shall Refuse to signe seale and deliver a Release of her Rights in the tenemt aforesaid; being by my executor only
by appointmt rendered to her; Also I give unto John Broad my sonne all my Right title and interest which I have in one tenemt called Carbynath
wollas; which I hold of Mr Vivian; to have the same Immediately after my decease; Neverless my will and meaning hereby is that if my said sonne
John Broad or any by or under him shall Claime any Right or title to one tenemt or any pt thereof which I now have in treleane sometime in
in the possession of one John Robbins under petence of any articles, Covenants or promises whatsoever; or when hee shall attaine; to the age of one and twenty
shall refuse to seale signe and deliver a Release of all such Claime in the tenemt aforesaid; being rendered to him by my executor or his assigns
my hereafter mentioned Executor shall have and enioy the aforesaid tenemt Called Carbynath wollas; together with all my rights therein;
Itm I give unto William Broad my sonne; after the death of my wife agnis aforesaid; all my right and interest that I have in one tenemt which I
hold of Sr Nicholas Slanning aforesaid excluding one field known by the name of pt polsue; Itm I give and bequeath to my said sonne William
all my right and interest in Trevarrack which I hold of Mr Grigor during my whole terme therein; and to have it psently after my
death; But my will and meaning in and hereby is, that my said sonne William shall pay unto my son in lawe Robert Cowling seaven pounds yearely
during the life of his wife phillip my daughter; to the only use and beheeste of my daughter phillip Cowling; if shee survive after the death of my
said sonne in lawe Robert Cowling; more I give unto my said sonne William that pt of a tenemt in Boswengar which I hold of John Jeffry; of Hayes?
Comonly knowen by the name of the two Crafts and penny-foundev; two of which feilds being now in wheate; the wheate now in t.he easter Craft: I
hereby give alsoe to my said sonne William; the wheate in the wester Craft I in and hereby give untu my hereafter mentioned
Executr; but my will and meaning in and hereby is that if my said sonne William shall at any time hereafter Claime any right title or interest
in pt or in whole of one tenemt aforesaid, which I now have in treleane, which heretofore was in the occupation of John Robbins by vertue of any
articles or Covenants which weare agreed on betweenc my father Richard Broad, and Mr William Hyatt above mentioned shall noe longer
enioy the tenemts aforesaid bequeathed. But that my Executor shall have them paying the aforesaid sume to Robert Cowling and his
wife aforesaid, in manner afsaid; and my will and interest is hereby that my said sonne William shall uppon tender signe, seale, and deliver
a Release to my Executor of his rights in treleane; and uppon refusall that my Executor enioy the tenemt afore bequeathed during the whole
terme; Itm I give to my daughter Phillip aforesaid one heifer of three yeares old, more I give to my sonne William the second best pair of
wheels; the second best waine; one butt and tuntree; and the second best pair of Cart wheels; two long oken plankes, five ewes
five sheepe of one yeare old; the second best yoack of oxen, one heifer of two yeares old, two heifers of one yeare old; one yoak &
Chaine; one harrow; one headtowe; one gull; one sheare and culter; one Brasse pann of five or six gallons; more I give to him one fetherbed
one deale Chest, which is now in the kitching; Itm I give to my daughter Jane Broad the sume of Fowerstene pounds of lawfull money
of England to bee Paid unto her at the end of three yeares after my death; And my will and
meanyng is that my Executor give unto her freely sufficient meat, drink, and lodging, and Forty shillings yearely towards her aparvell; for
and in case my said daughter shall refuse to live with my executor, then my will is that my executor shall pay unto her the sume of
Five pounds yearely, during the said terme of three yeares; by equall quarterly paymts: For the payment of which to my said daughter Jane by
my executur; my will and meaning is; that if my executor shall not, as aforesaid pay the said Fowerstene pounds, then my said daughter
Jane shall have and enioy my tenemt in treleane called Jeffords tenemt untill the said legasie bee sattisfied, togeather with all cost and damage
if any shall bee; Moreover know yee that if my daughter Jane shall any time Claime by her self, or any other any Right, Title, or interest
in my tenemt aforesaid. sometime in the possession of John Robbins; by vertue of any articles, or Covenants as aforesaid; then my will is that
my executor shall not give her convenyent dyet portion of five pounds yearely as aforesaid, alsoe my will is that
before the expiration of three yeares or the paymt of her portion shall refuse to release as above, my aforesaid sonnes John and William
shall die; Concerning the tenemt sometimes in the possession of one John Robbins; my will is that my said executor (shall not pay the Fowerstene)
pounds; Alsoe my will is if my said daughter Jane shall die unmarryed or within the terme of three yeares after my decease; that then my executot shall have the benefit of her portion; Itm I give to Jane my daughter one brasse pott Called Railes pott; to be delivered one yeare after my
death

gallons or thereabouts Alsoe I give unto the aforesaid Richard Broad my kindsman twenty shillings to be paid within one whole yeare
after my decease; Itm I give to Grace Harris Forty shillings to be paid one yeare after my death; I give to Richard prout his
wife Five shillings payable one yeare after my death; Itm I give unto Margarett the wife of Symon Dyer Five shillings & unto Edwan Blake
Five shillings, & unto Christyan Betters Five shillings to bee paid one yeare after my death, Itm I give to each of my
godchildren one shilling apiece, to bee payd in one yeare after my decease; Itm I give unto Agnis my wife six pewter dishes, and
the higher feild of barly in Trevisam lying and being under Pallyes howse; Itm I give to my sonn william six pewter dishes
Itm my will and pleasuar (notwithstanding the premeses) in and hereby is that if my aforesaid sune in lawe Robert Cowling, or his
wife my daughter Phillip, shall at any time hereafter Claime any right or title to the aforesaid tenemt in treleane, sometime
in the possession of John Robbins by vertue of any articles, or Covenants, had and made betweene my Father Richard Broad deceased,
and Mr William Hyatt lykewise deceased, or shall uppon tender refuse to seale signe and deliver a Release to my executor Concerning
the same; that then my will, and meaning hereby is, that neyther the fore said Robert Cowling my sunne in lawe, or his wife
Phillip my daughter shall have any further benefitt of the above said seaven pounds (after such refusall formerly bequeathed)
yearely as above; whilst the said Phillip shall live; (about thirteen words crossed out here)

Constitute and appoint my trusty, and well beloved Friends Charles Trevanyon gent, and Peter Polsue of the pish of Gorran to
theire best skill and power to see thi(s)my last will and testament duly exeeuted; All the rest of my goods, Chattles, Bonds, bills
Money, Plate and earthly stoore whatsoever; before not given and bequeathed; I in and hereby give, grant, and bequeath unto
my eldest sonne Richard Broad whome hereby I make my whole, and sole executor of this my last will, and testament
Witnesse my hand and seale the Two and twentith day of March in the yeare of our lord Christ One Thousand Six
