Will of Robert Dillon, Esq., dated 4 August 1796

In the name of God Amen. I Robert Dillon of the Borough of Penryn in the county of Cornwall Gentleman being in a weak state of health but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, praised be Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following First I resign my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named and as to my worldly estate and effects I give devise and bequeath the same as follows. I will that my debts and funeral charges be fully paid and satisfied by my executors hereinafter named. Also I give devise and bequeath all my freehold messuages lands tenenments and hereditaments whereof I am seized or whereunto I am in any wise entitles and wheresoever situate lying and being unto my two sons Joseph Dillon and Robert Dillon their heirs and assigns for ever to hold to them my said sons as tenants in common and not as joint tenants. Also I give devise and bequeath unto my son Robert Dillon (in order to make his share equal to what my son Joseph Dillon has already had of me the sum two hundred and twenty pounds. Also I give devise and bequeath unto my niece Mary Taylor the sum of fifteen guineas to be paid her by my executors hereinafter named within three months after my decease. Also I give devise and bequeath unto George Burton (labourer) all my old woollen cloakes and wearing apparel and also the sum of five guineas. Also I give devise and bequeath unto my niece Phoebe Jenkin the sum of five guineas. Also I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels real and personal estate, ready money and securities for money and all other my real and personal estate of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever after payment of my debts legacies and funeral charges unto my said sons Joseph Dillon and Robert Dillon equally to be divided between them share and share alike. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Joseph Dillon and Robert Dillon to be executors of this my last will and testament. Lastly I do hereby revoke all former and other wills by me hereinbefore made and do declare this only to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I hev hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety six.

This Will was proved at London the twelfth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight before the Knight Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the prorogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Joseph Dillon Esquire and the Reverend Robert Dillon Clerk the sons of the deceased and the executors named in the said will to whom admon was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased
having both first sworn by commission duly to administer.
