Know all Men by these presents that We CHARLES CONGDION of the Parish of Saint Germans in the County of Cornwall Shopkeeper, and THOMAS CONGDION the younger Son of the said CHARLES CONGDION of the Parish and County aforesaid Husbandman are held and firmly Bound unto JERIMIAH MAYER? Gent., DANIEL SANSON, RICHARD HOBB and JOHN HUSBAND Church Wardens and WILLIAM BIDDEK?, CHARLES SHIPP, JOHN CHUBB and HENRY SYMONDS Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Germans in the said County (in trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in One Hundred Pounds of good and lawfull Money of great Britain to be paid to the said JERIMIAH MAYER?, DANIEL SANSON, RICHARD HOBB, JOHN HUSBAND, WILLIAM BIDDEK?, CHARLES SHIPP, JOHN CHUBB and HENRY SYMONDS or their certain Attorney, their Executors Administrators, or Assigns. To which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally, and our and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents; Sealed with our Seals and dated the ninth day of September in the Second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third of great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty two.
 
The Condition of this Obligation is such That whereas PRICILLA FELMONT? of the Parish of Saint Germans singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary examination taken in Writing and upon Oath before EDWARD ELIOT Esqr., one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall declared that she is with Child, and that the said Child is likely to be born a Bastard and to be chargeable to the said parish of Saint Germans, and that the above bounden THOMAS CONGDION is the father of the said Child. If therefore the said THOMAS CONGDION and CHARLES CONGDION or either of them, their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Saint Germans and their Successors for the time being as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Saint Germans which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all manner of Costs, Rates, Taxes, Assessments and Charges whatsoever for or by reason of the birth Education and maintenance of the said Child and of and from all Actions, Suits, troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same that then this present Obligation to be void, Otherwise to be of full force power and Virtue
