The Will of Thomas Whitton, proved 6 October 1746
Know all Men by these Presents that I Thomas Whitton
have made Ordained Constituted and Appointed by these presents Do make
Ordain Constitute and Appoint Rose Hockin the Daughter of Mary Hockin of
Fowy my True and Lawfull Attorney for me and in my Name to her own
Proper use to Ask Demand Receive and take of Mr Gregory Stribly of Fowey
or whom else it may Concerne all such Sum or Sums of Money as he shall
Receive on my Account for any Prize or Prizes which have been or shall
be taken by the Princess Augusta Privateer during my Service on Board ye
said Ship Giving and by these Presents Granting unto my said Attorney my
full power and Absolute Authority in and about the Premises in as ample
manner and to all Intents and Purposes as I could do it personally
Present Ratifying all and whatsoever my said Attorney shall Lawfully do
or cause to be done in and about the Premises and whereas I am now about
to sail on a Cruize, if it should please God to take me to himselfe, my
Will and Intention by these presents is that the said Rose Hockins shall
(in that case but not otherwise) have full Power to receive all such
prize Money out of which I hereby Give to my Sister Sarah Whittin One
Shilling and all the rest and residue of my said Prize Money and all my
Other Effects of what kind soever I do give and Devise unto my said
Attorney Rose Hawkins whom I hereby make my Sole Executrix of this my
last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made.

The abovewritten will was proved in Common form the
6th Day of October 1746 Before the Revd Mr Wm Waddon Clerk Master of
Arts Official etc And Admion of the Goods etc of the sd deced and of all
things howsoever concerning his sd Will was Granted to the Executrix
therein named (being first Sworne/Saveing etc)
He dyed in his Majesty’s
Service |
The abovewritten Will is a True Coppy
of the
last Will & Testament of the above named
Thomas Whitton Examined and Compared
with the Original this 31st Day of October 1746 |
