The Will of Jonas Roberts, proved 7th November 1746
In the Name of God Amen I Jonas Roberts of the Burrough of Fowey in the
County of Cornwall Gentleman being in perfect Health and of Sound and
Disposing Mind and Memory by the Blessing of Almighty God Conferred on
me and thinking on the Uncertainty of Life Do hereby to prevent all
Disputes which may arise after my Death make and Declare this to be my
last Will and Testament hereby Revokeing all former Wills and Testaments
by me made First I recommend my Soul to God in firm hopes of a Joyfull
Resurrection thro the Intercession of my Holy Saviour Christ Jesus and
my Body to Christian Buriall as private as possibly it can be done and
as for the Effects which God has in his Mercy bestowed on me I Give as
follow I Give to my Good and Worthy Sister in Law Mrs Mary Woolcott of
Dodbrooke in the County of Devon my Diamond Ring I Recommend Mary the
Daughter of my late Deced Uncle Joseph Roberts to the affections of my
Good and Dearly Beloved Wife Considering in her Honest Goodness to do
for her as she may by her Dutifull behaviour toward my said wife Deserve
I Give to my very much Esteemed Friend and Beloved Kinsman Mr John Johns
of Fowey One Guinea to Buy a Ring in Memory of me and One Guinea to my
Good Friend and Brother in law Mr John Wolcott all my Messuages Lands
Tenements and hereditaments parts parcells and and moyetyes of Messuages
Lands Tenements and Hereditaments either in possession Reversion or
Remainder Situate Lying and being in Lostwithiel in the said County of
Cornwall or elsewhere I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my well deserving
and Dearly Beloved Wife Amy Roberts her Heirs and Assigns forever To
Hold the same unto her the said Amy Roberts her Heirs and Assigns
forevermore All the Rest of my Goods and Chattles I Give and Bequeath
unto my said wife Amy Roberts and her I hereby make and Appoint whole
and Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof
I have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal and published and Declared this to
be my last Will and Testament the Fifth Day of September in the
Fourteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by
the Grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of
the Faith and Soforth and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand and Seven
Hundred and Forty.
Signed Sealed Published and
Declared by the said
Testator Jonas Roberts to be his last Will and
Testament in presence of us who have Subscribed
our names as Attesting Witnesses to the same in
the presence of him the said Testator and of each
other. |

The above written will was proved on Common Forme
the 7th Day of November 1746. Before the Revd Mr Wm. Waddon Mr.of Arts
Official etc. And Admion of all and Singular the Goods etc. of the sd
deced and of all things howsoever concerning the sd Will was Granted to
the Executrix therein named being first Sworne etc Saveing etc.
The above written will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of
the above named
Jonas Roberts Examined and Compared with the Originall this 13th Day of
November
1746.
