The Will of John Grose, proved 16 January 1746
In the Name of God Amen I John Grose late of Foy in
the County of Cornwall but now of Majestyes Ship Orford being in Bodily
Health and of Sound and Disposeing Mind and Memory and Considering the
perils and Dangers of the Seas and Other Uncertaintyes of this
Transistory Life Do for avoiding Controversies after my Decease make and
Publish and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following
That is to say First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my
Bodye I commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to Order and
as for and Concerning all my Worldly Estate I Give Bequeath and Dispose
thereof as followeth That is to say all Wages Sum and Sums of money
Lands Tenements Goods Chattels and Estate whatsoever as shall be anywise
due oweing or Belonging unto me at the time of my decease I do Give
devise and Bequeath the same unto my dearly Beloved wife Mary Grose And
I do hereby Nominate and Appoint her the said Mary Grose Sole Executrix
of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revokeing all former and Other
Wills Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and
I do Ordain and Ratifye and these Presents to stand and be for and as my
only last Will and Testament In Witness whereof to this my said Will I
have sett my hand and Seal the Eighth Day of October Anno Dom 1740 and
in the fourteenth year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the
Second over Great Brittain etc

The beforewritten Will was proved in Common forme
the 16th of Jany 1746 Before the Revd Master William Waddon Clerk
Official etc And Admoin of the Goods etc of the sd Deced and of all
things howsoever concerning the sd Will was Granted to the Exec therein
named being first Sworne etc Saveing etc.
He dyed on Board of or Belonging
To his Majestys Ship Orford |
The above written Will is a True Coppy
of the last Will and
Testament of the above sd John Grose Examined and Compared
With the Original this 27th Day of January 1746 |
