The Will of Charles Morehouse, dated 9 May 1794
I Charles Morehouse of the Parish of Forrabury in the County
of
Cornwall being of a sound & perfect mind & Memory do make and ordain
This to be my last Will and Testament revoking & declaring void all my
Former Wills viz
I give unto my two Sons Thomas & James Morehouse the Sum of Sixty
Pounds each when they sall arrive at the Age of one & twenty Years to be
Paid by my Executrix hereinafter named And also forty Pounds to my
Son John Morehouse
Item I give unto my Son John Morehouse the Fee Simple & Inheritance of the
Messuage & Tenement in Forrabury which I Bought of Mr Woodrow of Sorton
in Devonshire together with a Field called Diamond’s Meadow & four
Garden Plots thereunto belonging together with a piece of Land on the
Eastern Part of Forrabury Common Paying 4d As a Relief or High rent
for the said Piece unto Mary Martyn or her Heirs to the said John
Morehouse and his Heirs for ever for want of such Issue thento
James Morehouse & his Heirs for ever & x want of such Issue then to
Thomas Morehouse & his Heirs And appoint their Mother their Executrix
in trust during their Minority
Item I give unto my Wife the Messuage & Tenement which we now live in
together with the four Fields therein belonging commonly called
or known by the Name of Backways Tenement together with three
Pieces of Land on Forrabury Common during her natural Life
and after her decease to my Son Thomas Morehouse during his
natural life and after his decease to my Son James Morehouse during
his natural Life
All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods & Chattels of what nature
& kind so ever they be I give & bequeath unto my Wife Sarah Morehouse
Whom I do appoint my whole & Sole Executrix of this my last Will and
Testament In Witness whereof I do this 9th day May 1794 …
