The Will of Richard Hooper, dated 9 March 1791
In the name of God, Amen. I, Richard Hooper, of the
Parish of St Enoder, in the County of Cornwall, Yeoman, being at this
time, weak in body, but of a sound mind, memory and understanding,
blessed be God for the same, do make and ordain this my last Will and
Testament, in manner and form following.
First - I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my Body to
the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors
herein-after-named.
Item -I will that all my just Debts, Legacies and funeral Charges be
first paid.
Item -I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew Hooper, all my Stock, Corn,
Implements of Husbandry, with whatever else, of what nature or kind it
be, now upon my Tenement, called Gonabarren, in St Enoder aforesaid,
together with ten-pounds, to be paid him at the end of twelve months
after my decease, by my Executors.
Item -I give and bequeath unto my Son John Hooper the sum of
twenty-pounds
Item -I give and bequeath to my Daughter Jane Gilbert, Wife of James
Gilbert, the sum of thirty-pounds
Item -I give and bequeath to each of my grand- children one Guinea.
Item -I will that these Legacies be paid, as the before mentioned, at
the end of one year after my decease.
Lastly - All the Rest, Residue, and Remainder of my Effects of
what-nature-or-kind soever I give and bequeath to my dear Wife Isabella
and Son Walter Hooper, whom I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint
joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth of March,
in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven-hundred and ninety one.

Testament, in presence of us, as Witnesses to the same
