Settlement Document for Michael Rickard & family, dated 8 August 1736

Cornwall (To Wit) To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Egloshayle in the said County
We the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Enoder in the said County whose Names and Seals are hereunto set and affixed by and with the Consent of the Principal Inhabitants of the said Parish of Saint Enoder do own and acknowledge Michael Rickard Millwright aged about thirty two years & Jane his Wife aged about thirty six years and Mary their Daughter aged about eight years & Michael their Son aged about four years and Joseph their Son aged about two years to be legally settled within the said Parish of Saint Enoder. And whereas the said Michael Rickard with Jane his wife Mary his daughter and Michael & Joseph their Sons being desirous to remove into your said Parish of Egloshayle in order for their better maintainance and to dwell there We the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Enoder aforesaid Do hereby on behalf of ourselves and our Successors promise and agree unto and with the said Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Egloshayle and their Successors That in Case the said Michael Rickard, Jane his Wife, Mary his Daughter, Michael and Joseph their Sons, or either of them shall at any time hereafter become chargeable to your said Parish of Egloshayle That we and our Successors shall and will on notice to us given retake and receive him the said Michael Rickard Jane his Wife Mary their Daughter & Michael & Joseph their Sons or either of them into our said Parish of Saint Enoder & provide for them as Inhabitants thereof as the Law directs. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and Seals this eighth day of August in the year of our Lord 1736
