KNOW all Men by these Presents that I EDMUND ROUSE of the Borough of Truro in the County of Cornwall Gentleman am held and firmly bound unto JOHN LAVIN and JOHN TREZISE Churchwardens and JOSEPH KNIGHT and PETER DINGEY Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Clements in the said County (in Trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in fifty Pounds of Good and Lawfull Money of Great Britain, to be paid to the said JOHN LAVIN, JOHN TREZISE, JOSEPH KNIGHT and PETER DINGEY or their Certain Attorney, their Exors, Admors or Assigns To which payment well and truly to be made, I bind myself my Heirs, Exors and Admors and every of them firmly by these Presents, Sealed with my Seal and Dated the twelfth Day of December in the twenty sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third, of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the faith and so forth, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand, seven Hundred and Eighty five.

The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas JENEFER WEB of the parish of Saint Clements in the said County Single Woman Did in and by her Voluntary Examination, taken in writing and upon Oath before EDWARD COLLINS Esqr. one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall declared that she was with Child, and that the said Child was likely to be born a bastard, and to be Chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Clements and that GEORGE ROUSE Son of the above bounded EDMUND ROUSE was the Father of the said Child; And Whereas the said JENEFER WEB hath been since delivered of the said Child, which was born a Female Child within the said parish of Saint Clements and liable to become chargeable to the said Parish IF Therefore the said EDMUND ROUSE his Heirs, Exors or Admors, or either of them do and shall from time to time, and at all Times hereafter, fully and Clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Clements and their Successors for the Time being, as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Saint Clements which now are, or hereafter shall be for the Time being of and from all Manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates, assessments and Charges whatsoever, for or by Reason of the Education and Maintenance of the said Child, and of and from all Actions, Suits, Troubles and other Charges and Demands whatsoever, touching or Concerning the Same, that then this Present obligation to be void, otherwise of force.
