KNOW all men by these Presents, that I RICHARD ROGERS late of the Parish of Feock in the County of Cornwall Mariner am held and firmly bound unto JOHN TRESIZE and WILLIAM GATLEY Churchwardens and JONATHN. PETERS Clerk and JOHN LAVIN Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Clements in the said County of Cornwall Yeomen (in trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in Fifty Pounds of Good and Lawfull Money of Great Britain, to be paid to the said JOHN TRESIZE WILLIAM GATLEY JONAN. PETERS and JOHN LAVIN or their certain Attorney, their Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, To which Payment well and truly to be made, I bind myself my Heirs executors and administrators firmly by these Presents; Sealed with my Seal and dated the Sixteenth day of November in the Twenty fifth Year of the reign of our Sovereign lord George the third of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty four.

The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas MARY THOMAS of the said Parish of Saint Clements Single woman was in the Month of October now last past delivered of a Female Bastard Child named MARY in the said Parish of Saint Clements which said Bastard Child is now Chargeable to the said parish of Saint Clements and the said MARY THOMAS hath Charged the above bound RICHARD ROGERS with having Gotten her with Child of the said Bastard Child.

If therefore the said RICHARD ROGERS his Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time, and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Clements and their Successors for the time being, as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Saint Clements which now are, or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all Manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates Assessments and Charges whatsoever, for or by reason of the birth, education or maintenance of the said Child, and of and from all actions, suits, troubles and other Charges and demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same, then this present Obligation to be void, otherwise of force.
