Know all men by these presents that we GEORGE RUNDELL of the Parish of Merther in the County of Cornwall Yeoman, JOHN GIBBS of the parish of Saint Enoder in the said County Husbandman, and JOHN EUSTIS of the Parish of Newlyn in the County aforesaid Cooper, are held and firmly Bound unto JOHN THOMAS Esqr., JOHN TRESISE, WILLIAM CORVOSSOE and JOHN THOMAS Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Saint Clements in the said County their Successors Administrators and Assigns, in the Sum of One Hundred pounds of good and Lawfull Money of Great Britain, to be paid to them the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Clements their Successors Adminrs. and Assigns for the time being; for the true payment of which, we bind ourselves, and every one of us by himself for the whole and in Gross, and the Heirs Executors and Adminrs. of us and each and every of us firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and Dated this third day of May in the sixteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George King Defender of the faith and so forth; and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty three.

The Condition of this obligation is such, That Whereas BLANCH ROBERTS of the said Parish of Saint Clements Single woman, hath voluntarily confessed on her Examination upon Oath before HENRY FFOOTE Esqr. one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the said County of Cornwall that she is now pregnant with a Bastard Child or Children, which (when Born) are likely to become chargeable, to the said Parish of Saint Clements, and hath charged the above Bounden GEORGE RUNDELL with having gotten the said child or children, and is therefore adjudged to be the true father thereof. IF therefore the said GEORGE RUNDELL his Heirs Executors or Administrators, or any of them, do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter acquit, discharge and save harmless, as well the above named JOHN THOMAS Esqr. JOHN TRESISE, WILLIAM CORVOSSOE and JOHN THOMAS (Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Clements aforesaid), and their Successors for the time being, as also the Inhabitants and Parishioners of the said Parish, of and from all Costs, Charges and troubles whatsoever, for or by reason of the Birth, Maintenance, Nourishing and bringing up the said Child or Children and of and from all other suits, Charges, troubles and Demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same; then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
